Job summary

HighRadius seeks a hands-on Senior Technical Architect (Platform Backend) to lead architecture, scaling, and evolution of the core platform infrastructure in a cloud-native, high-throughput environment.

You will drive HLD/LLD, establish guardrails for reliability and low latency, and collaborate with product and engineering leaders to ensure robust, scalable solutions. Mentoring and DevOps alignment are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• 12-16 years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in Architect/Principal Engineer roles for enterprise SaaS.
• Expertise in Java 17+ and Spring Boot/Spring Cloud with deep JVM knowledge.
• Experience building distributed microservices and REST/gRPC, with Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong SQL/NoSQL skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB/Redis) and data modeling.
• Cloud exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end HLD/LLD for core platform services and integration adapters.
• Lead migration from monolith to microservices without downtime.
• Establish ARBs and governance to enforce clean architecture and SOLID principles.
• Design scalable, multi-tenant, cloud-native frameworks for high concurrency and large-scale transactions.
• Oversee DR readiness, fault-tolerance, and secure, zero-trust policies.
• Mentor senior engineers and partner with Product for roadmaps and debt mitigation.

You will be responsible for driving high-level and low-level designs (HLD/LLD), establishing engineering guardrails, optimizing complex data pathways, and collaborating directly with product and engineering leaders to ensure absolute reliability, performance, and low latency at scale.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Architectural Leadership

• Own the end-to-end High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) for core platform services, asynchronous processing components, and enterprise ERP/bank integration adapters.
• Facilitate a smooth transition from monolithic legacy boundaries into clean, highly cohesive microservices domains without impacting uptime or data integrity.
• Establish architectural governance, lead Architecture Review Boards (ARBs), and review critical pull requests to safeguard code quality, clean architecture principles, and SOLID design patterns.

Scalability, Performance & Reliability

• Architect multi-tenant, cloud-native frameworks capable of handling high-concurrency and petabyte-scale financial transactions with strict SLAs.
• Diagnose and eliminate system bottlenecks across distributed transactions, locking models, memory management, and network payloads.
• Oversee zero-trust security compliance, fault-tolerance mechanisms, automated failover policies, and disaster recovery readiness.

Data & Integration Architecture

• Design robust relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and non-relational database schemas, complex indexing strategies, data partitioning models, and archival frameworks.
• Scale event-driven architectures utilizing Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems to manage reliable real-time data streaming and asynchronous decoupling.
• Optimize high-throughput caching architectures (using Redis) to minimize database overhead for intensive financial computations.

Engineering Culture & Execution

• Act as a technical multiplier by mentoring senior engineers, driving proof-of-concepts (PoCs) for emerging technologies, and cultivating an environment of fast, first-principles execution.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management to scope technical roadmaps, decompose epic requirements into modular milestones, and proactively mitigate technical debt.

Required Skills

A technically deep engineering/product leader with:

• Experience: 12 - 16 years of professional software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years successfully operating in a Technical Architect or Principal Engineer capacity for enterprise SaaS products.
• Core Backend Stack: Expert-level mastery of Java (Java 17+), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and enterprise-grade backend frameworks. A profound understanding of JVM internals, garbage collection tuning, multi-threading, and high-concurrency programming models.
• Distributed Systems & Messaging: Proven experience in building distributed microservices, RESTful APIs, gRPC, and event-driven architectures utilizing Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Database & Storage Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SQL and NoSQL storage engines (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis). Hands-on capability with query execution plans, partitioning, and database tuning under heavy write/read loads.
• Cloud & DevOps Infrastructure: Solid production experience with AWS (or Azure/GCP), containerization technologies (Docker), cluster orchestration (Kubernetes), and enterprise CI/CD deployment pipelines.
