Job summary

Davies Life & Health is seeking a Senior Applications Developer in Pune. You will develop and support applications using Visual Basic.NET, SQL Server and XML, with full stack responsibilities across front-end and back-end layers.

Lead design directions, define change control, and mentor teammates while collaborating with business analysts and vendors. The role requires 3–5 years of software development experience, strong communication, and initiative.

Qualifications

• :Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or a combination of education and experience.
• :3-5 years’ software development experience.
• :Experience in developing systems using Visual Basic.NET, SQL Server and XML.
• :Experience in developing through full stack systems in building both the front-end and back-end layers.
• :Experience in working with Microsoft Office Suite, code management applications like GitHub and DevOps deployment.
• :Must speak English.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and/or lead the effort in evaluating business requirements and processes, preparation of application system specifications and the development, testing and implementation of efficient, cost-effective applications solutions.
• Provide design leadership and set direction for new systems development
• Establish procedures for change control and product migration
• Assume responsibility and ownership for all systems and system related problems, regardless of current assignment
• Review documented business requirements and test plans and provide technical feedback to Business Analysts
• Ensure quality through thorough unit testing of all code and participating in systems integrated testing
• Assist Business Analysts and End Users with any technical issues during systems integrated testing, parallel testing, training sessions and demonstrations
• Provide on-call support for production systems on a rotating basis
• Maintain existing applications adhering to established architecture and standards
• Write technical documentation in support of assigned projects
• Document all code using format established by the project
• Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication with the team, other co-workers, management, clients and vendors
• Provide technical coaching and mentoring to other members of the systems development team
• Support company values and perform other special projects as assigned

Davies Life & Health is looking for a Senior Applications Developer who will be responsible for system development standards, design and development of new applications to support business needs, and production support enhancements.
To be successful in this role, you must have experience developing systems using Visual Basic.NET, SQL Server, and familiarity with XML and full stack applications. Additionally, you should possess strong communication skills and a willingness to work with and learn new third-party software systems and vendors. You should also be capable of working both collaboratively and independently, and be proactive and take initiative.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or a combination of education and experience
• 3-5 years’ software development experience
• Experience in developing systems using Visual Basic.NET, SQL Server and XML.
• Experience in developing through full stack systems in building both the front-end (user-facing, client-side) and back-end (server-side, database, API) layers of web or application development.
• Experience in working with Microsoft Office Suite, code management applications like GitHub and DevOps deployment.
• Must speak English
