About the role

The primary responsibility of an Application Engineer is the overall technology delivery of the Product and Manage Application(s) lifecycle of applications. Together with other team-members like Engineering leads, Product Owners, plan the project timeline, assess risk, prioritize technical tasks and plan milestones and delivery of project.

The responsibility could span multiple products and would require collaboration across various global teams with a mix of both internal and external members.

Our team is the global L&H Reinsurance Engineering team, responsible for the technical Architecture & Engineering of IT solutions for Reinsurance business unit. The team members are passionate about technology with deep understanding of reinsurance business. We closely collaborate with other teams and colleagues around the globe to share knowledge and engineer solutions.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess …

• Demonstrated strong expertise in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, MSSQL, TSQL and database engineering with 12+ years experience delivering enterprise-scale database solutions.
• Responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of complex Oracle database applications, procedures, functions, triggers, packages, and database APIs.
• Provide technical leadership in database architecture, data modelling, normalization, and solution design to support business-critical applications and data platforms.
• Drive database performance improvements through advanced query tuning, index optimization, execution plan analysis, capacity planning, and database health monitoring.
• Lead the development and management of ETL processes, data pipelines, and data integration solutions to support reporting, analytics, and operational systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects, data engineers, and application teams to translate business requirements into scalable and resilient database solutions.
• Establish and enforce database development standards, coding best practices, governance controls, secure coding guidelines, and data protection policies.
• Leverage AI-powered tools and automation solutions to improve database development productivity, optimize performance analysis, accelerate issue resolution, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Evaluate and implement emerging AI, machine learning, and data-driven technologies to support intelligent automation, predictive analytics, database modernization, and continuous innovation initiatives
