Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Application Engineering team with direction and performance management.
• Review valve selection, sizing, configuration and application suitability for customer needs.
• Lead technical evaluation of customer specs, RFQs, datasheets, P&IDs and project requirements.
• Prepare technically compliant and techno-commercial proposals.
• Handle complex technical queries, deviations and customer specs.
• Interface with EPCs, consultants, OEMs, end users and sales teams for discussions.
• Provide technical support to Sales during pre-bid, bid and post-order stages.
• Ensure compliance with international standards and engineering practices.
• Support high pressure, high temperature and severe-service applications.
• Coordinate with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Projects and Procurement teams.
• Review risks, feasibility, costing inputs and delivery before proposals.
• Develop standard practices, templates and approval processes.
• Reduce quotation turnaround time and technical errors.
• Contribute to new product development and improvements.
• Mentor team and share knowledge to build capability.
• Monitor KPIs related to quotation TAT and technical accuracy.
• Participate in customer visits and technical presentations.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Head – Application Engineering to lead the Application Engineering function for our valve business. The position will be responsible for providing technical leadership in valve selection, sizing, application engineering, techno-commercial proposals and customer technical support.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in the industrial/control valve industry, excellent technical depth, and proven capability in leading and developing an application engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Application Engineering team, providing technical direction, coaching and performance management.
• Review and approve valve selection, sizing, configuration and application suitability for customer requirements.
• Lead technical evaluation of customer specifications, RFQs, datasheets, P&IDs and project requirements.
• Ensure preparation of technically compliant and commercially viable technical/techno-commercial proposals.
• Handle complex technical queries, deviations, clarifications and customer specifications.
• Interface with EPCs, consultants, OEMs, end users and sales teams for technical discussions and solution development.
• Provide technical support to Sales and Business Development teams during pre-bid, bidding and post-order stages.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, customer specifications and engineering practices.
• Support special and critical applications involving high pressure, high temperature, corrosive, severe-service or other demanding process conditions.
• Coordinate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Projects, Procurement and Sales teams for successful execution of orders.
• Review technical risks, feasibility, costing inputs and delivery requirements before proposal submission.
• Develop standard application engineering practices, templates, technical guidelines and approval processes.
• Drive reduction in quotation turnaround time, technical errors, rework and proposal deviations.
• Provide technical inputs for new product development, product improvement and application-specific solutions.
• Develop technical competency within the team through training, mentoring and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Monitor team KPIs related to quotation TAT, technical accuracy, proposal conversion, customer response and engineering productivity.
• Participate in customer visits, technical presentations, product discussions and resolution of critical technical issues.
• Support the organization in developing application engineering capabilities for domestic and international markets.

Required Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of industrial valves and flow-control products.
• Good understanding of valve selection, sizing, configuration and application.
• Experience in interpreting valve datasheets, P&IDs, specifications and enquiry documents.
• Strong understanding of materials, pressure classes, temperature ratings, actuators and valve accessories.
• Knowledge of relevant API / ASME / ISO / IEC and customer-specific standards.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing technical proposals and deviation/clarification statements.
• Exposure to process industries such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, Refinery and General Industrial applications will be preferred.
• Experience in handling technically complex and engineered-to-order valve applications will be an advantage.

Education & Experience

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical / Instrumentation Engineering.
• 15–20 years of relevant experience in valve / flow-control / process equipment industry.
• Significant experience in Application Engineering, Proposal Engineering or Technical Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a team leadership/managerial role is preferred.
• Experience with reputed valve manufacturers, EPCs or process-industry solution providers is preferred.
