Responsibilities

• Take a leading role on assigned projects, making design recommendations to business owners and technical team members.
• Develop, test, and implement assigned development projects using department-standard tools (.NET, Elixir, Cloverleaf, BizTalk, and queuing engines).
• Lead efforts to evaluate, propose and implement solutions with direction from management.
• Design and develop CI/CD and testing automation processes.
• Perform development using HCA standards and maintain code/version control (TFServer, GitHub, etc.).
• Provide technical mentoring and lead code reviews and unit testing.
• Offer advanced troubleshooting support to end users across the organization.

Position Summary

The Senior Application Developer develops FHIR Services (RESTful healthcare APIs) within the Enterprise Integration at HCA. Primary duties include developing RESTful web services in .NET or other languages on a variety of platforms, and working with other architects, developers and teams that would be consumers of the platform. Due to the high volume and criticality of the data our department processes, our solutions require high availability, resiliency and redundancy. To achieve this goal, our solutions must utilize high levels of parallel processing in multiple datacenters, and candidates for this role must have experience architecting and building highly parallelized solutions utilizing functional programming techniques.

Responsibilities

• Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter and must be committed to delivering high-quality solutions within agreed upon timelines.


• Daily duties for the Senior Application Engineer include:


• Take a leading role on assigned projects, making design recommendations to business owners and technical team members, and suggest course corrections as necessary for project success


• Develop, test, and implement assigned development projects with the help of other assigned resources, and utilizing department-standard integration and development tools, such as: .NET, Elixir, Cloverleaf, BizTalk, and queuing engines.


• Lead efforts to evaluate, propose and implement solutions with direction from management


• Design and develop CI/CD and testing automation processes


• Perform development using HCA standards and procedures, maintaining code and version control through Microsoft Team Foundation Server, GitHub, and/or other such tools as management determines.


• Take a lead role with other engineers on the team, providing guidance on software architecture, design decisions, and general technical mentoring.


• Completing Unit Testing and lead in Peer/Code Reviews of other developers work


• Providing advanced troubleshooting user support working with end users at all levels of the organization

Education & Experience

• Experience: 5+ yrs


• Background: Previous experience in healthcare data integration


• Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Must Have Skills

• C# development experience with specific experience in ASP.NET Core Web API


• Demonstrated experience building micro-services utilizing RESTful principles


• Demonstrated experience with SDLC-related tools – Git (and feature-branching), Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, etc.


• Understanding of API Gateways and networking technologies related to web service development (such as load balance groups, NAT pools, VIPs, firewall rules, etc)

Nice To Have Skills

• Other development platforms – Java, Elixir/Erlang, etc.


• Healthcare data integration experience – HL7 and/or FHIR


• Other integration standards – X12, SOAP


• OS command line skills – unix/linux shells and/or windows shells


• Cloud infrastructure knowledge – GCP and/or Azure.
