Birch Tree Consulting is seeking a Senior Analytics Specialist who will design scalable BI solutions, build optimized data models, and develop high-performance dashboards using Power BI and Snowflake. The role emphasizes SQL, DAX, data warehousing, and cloud analytics to drive data-driven decisions across business units.

You will design dashboards, optimize data models, implement advanced DAX, and ensure secure, scalable analytics using modern cloud-based tools and ETL/ELT pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Power BI and analytics.
• Strong expertise in Power BI, Snowflake, and SQL.
• Experience with data modeling techniques and DAX calculations.
• ETL/ELT, data warehousing concepts, and architecture.
• Knowledge of Row-Level Security (RLS) and data security practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise-grade dashboards and reports using Power BI (Power BI Desktop & Service).
• Build and optimize tabular data models with relationships, hierarchies, and measures.
• Develop advanced DAX calculations (CALCULATE, FILTER, ALL, time intelligence).
• Perform data transformation using Power Query (M).
• Extract and integrate data from Snowflake using connectors and optimize query performance.
• Write complex SQL queries, CTEs, window functions in Snowflake.
• Design data warehouse architectures (Star/Snowflake, SCD types 1 & 2).
• Optimize Snowflake performance with clustering keys, pruning, caching, and sizing.
• Implement incremental loads and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Configure Power BI Gateways, scheduled refresh, and row-level security.
• Performance tuning of reports (query folding, aggregations, reducing cardinality).
• Collaborate with data engineers and business teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Analytics Specialist with strong expertise in Power BI and Snowflake. The candidate will be responsible for designing scalable BI solutions, building optimized data models, and developing high-performance dashboards. The role requires deep technical proficiency in SQL, DAX, data warehousing, and cloud-based analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise-grade dashboards and reports using Power BI (Power BI Desktop & Service)
• Build and optimize tabular data models, including relationships, hierarchies, calculated columns, and measures
• Develop advanced DAX calculations (CALCULATE, FILTER, ALL, time intelligence functions, etc.)
• Perform data transformation and cleansing using Power Query (M language)
• Extract and integrate data from Snowflake using native connectors and optimize query performance
• Write complex SQL queries, CTEs, window functions, and analytical queries in Snowflake
• Design and implement data warehouse architectures (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, SCD Type 1 & 2)
• Optimize Snowflake performance using: clustering keys, query pruning, result caching, and virtual warehouse sizing
• Implement incremental data loads and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Configure and manage Power BI Gateways, scheduled refresh, and row-level security (RLS)
• Perform performance tuning of reports (query folding, aggregations, minimizing cardinality)
• Collaborate with data engineers and business teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions
