Job summary

Northern Trust Bangalore office is seeking a data governance professional to drive data quality, lineage, and regulatory reporting. You will partner with risk, compliance, and technology teams to ensure accurate, traceable data for risk management and regulatory submissions.

Role requires 3-5 years in risk/banking, MBA in finance or risk management, and strong analytical skills. Familiarity with Agile methods and BI tools is a plus. On-site work in Bengaluru with global collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in Risk/ Banking Domain.
  • MBA in Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Financial Risk and/or Financial Crime domains.
  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or Regulatory Reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across business, risk, and technology teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive data governance practices including quality, metadata, lineage and stewardship.
  • Support regulatory reporting processes and data governance activities.
  • Support data sourcing, integration, transformation, and validation across systems.
  • Assist audits, regulatory examinations, and remediation with data traceability.
  • Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to remediate data quality issues.
  • Analyze and support initiatives in Financial Risk, AML, KYC, Fraud, and financial crime.
  • Work with risk and compliance to ensure data used for reporting is accurate and traceable.
  • Perform data profiling, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis on datasets.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.

Major Duties
  • Drive data governance practices, including data quality, metadata management, lineage, controls, and stewardship.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Risk/ Banking Domain
  • MBA in Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Financial Risk and/or Financial Crime domains.
  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or Regulatory Reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across business, risk, and technology teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and project management practices.
Required Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Basic SQL and data analysis skills.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization platforms such as Power BI, Sigma, Snowflake and other business intelligence tools are good to have.
  • Ability to investigate data anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management, issue management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships across business, technology, risk, and compliance teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
