Job summary

Alstom is seeking a Senior Analyst - Project Controlling in Bengaluru. You will deliver critical financial insights, ensure control of project results, and partner with Procurement and Finance teams to optimize costs. This role emphasizes BOM/EAC alignment, risk management, and data integrity across budgets, forecasts, and actuals.

You will work with cross-functional teams, maintain financial indices, and drive cost optimization while upholding financial standards and governance across projects.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance or equivalent (CA/CMA) required.
  • Experience in Project Controlling/Costing or Corporate Finance.
  • Knowledge of SAP and MS Excel strongly preferred.
  • Finance certification or related qualification is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and presentation capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Validate mBOM financials to support project EAC.
  • Root cause analysis of mBOM gaps with line-by-line detail.
  • Ensure BOM, EAC, actuals, and To Be Engaged costs align.
  • Manage risks, savings, and opportunities across projects.
  • Monthly BOM reviews by subsystem, material category, supplier.
  • Maintain inflation/index database for cost analysis.
  • Ensure consistency across budget, forecast, actual figures.
  • Partner with Project Procurement & Project Finance teams.
  • Analyze monthly actual costs vs forecast; identify variances.
  • Support cost forecasting in collaboration with Procurement.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain for cost monitoring.
  • Review PPV and material rate variances.
  • Own SAP/GSI transactions and reporting tools (QlikView, BI).
  • Monitor extra costs and liaise with Claims department.
  • Track revenue, gross margin, and cost-to-completion.
  • Ensure procurement/material governance and controls.
  • Validate cost assumptions and tender-stage costing.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives and cost reductions.
  • Monitor WIP and cost performance vs targets.
  • Provide financial reporting, KPIs, benchmarking.
  • Identify cost drift; propose mitigations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal project controls.
  • Support management with reliable financial insights.

You’ll deliver critical financial insights and support to our project teams, fostering sound economic management and optimizing project financial targets. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Managers, Work Package Owners, Accounting Team), ensure control of project results, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of the precision of financial project data, uphold compliance with financial standards, and proactively manage risks and opportunities.

We’ll look to you for:
  • Validate Manufacturing BOM (mBOM) financials to support project EAC (Estimate at Completion)
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis of mBOM gaps (line-by-line explanation)
  • Ensure alignment between BOM, EAC, actuals, and "To Be Engaged" costs
  • Manage risks, savings, and opportunities across projects
  • Conduct monthly reviews of BOM evolution by subsystem, material category, and supplier
  • Maintain financial index database for inflation tracking and cost analysis
  • Ensure consistency across budget, forecast, and actual project figures
  • Act as business partner to Project Procurement and Project Finance teams
  • Analyze monthly actual costs vs forecast and identify variances
  • Support cost forecasting and timing with Procurement teams
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain for cost monitoring and progress tracking
  • Review purchase price variance (PPV) and material rate variances
  • Own and manage SAP/GSI transactions and reporting tools (e.g., QlikView, BI tools)
  • Monitor extra costs, claims, and liaise with Claims department
  • Track and forecast revenue, gross margin, and cost-to-completion
  • Ensure strong procurement/material control and governance processes
  • Validate cost assumptions, QCD performance, and tender-stage costing
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives (cost reduction / “cost killing”)
  • Monitor WIP, cost performance vs targets, and financial accuracy of project data
  • Provide financial reporting, KPIs, and benchmarking (cost, productivity, delivery)
  • Identify cost drift and productivity risks; propose mitigation actions
  • Ensure compliance with internal rules, processes, and project control standards
  • Support management with reliable financial insights and ad-hoc reporting
