Job summary

XPO is seeking a BI Senior Analyst in Hyderabad to transform data into actionable insights that drive strategic and operational decisions. You will design scalable dashboards, ensure data quality, and enable self-service analytics across the organization.

The role requires strong SQL, data warehousing knowledge, and proficiency with Looker/Tableau/Power BI. You will collaborate with data engineering and business teams in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, CS, IS, Business, Engineering or related field
• 6+ years of experience in BI, Data Analytics, or related role
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts (star schema, dimensional modelling)
• Experience across the full BI lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance)

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to identify reporting and analytics needs aligned with strategic objectives
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns and opportunities; deliver actionable insights
• Design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards with Looker, Tableau or Power BI
• Extract, transform and analyze data from data warehouses using SQL and similar tools
• Support data governance: definitions, lineage, cataloging and data quality controls
• Evaluate data products and participate in Agile product development and backlog grooming
• Present findings to leadership and translate technical concepts into business-friendly language
• No direct supervisory responsibilities; mentor junior analysts where appropriate
• Exercise independent judgment in data analysis and prioritization of work

The Business Intelligence (BI) Senior Analyst partners with business stakeholders to transform data into actionable insights that drive strategic and operational decision-making. This role blends data analysis, visualization, and business acumen to design scalable reporting solutions, ensure data quality, and enable self-service analytics across the organization.

The BI Senior Analyst serves as a trusted advisor and liaison between business units and technical teams, translating business needs into data requirements, developing dashboards and data models, and promoting data literacy. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in modern BI tools, data warehousing concepts, and data governance practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering (20%)

• Partner with business stakeholders to identify reporting and analytics needs aligned with strategic objectives
• Conduct discovery sessions, workshops, and interviews to gather and document requirements
• Translate business questions into technical specifications, KPIs, and data definitions
• Act as the primary BI point of contact for assigned business domains
  

2. Data Analysis & Insights Generation (25%)

• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities
• Perform exploratory data analysis and root cause investigations
• Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to improve business performance
• Apply statistical methods and analytical techniques where appropriate
  

3. Dashboarding & Data Visualization (25%)

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
• Ensure visualizations are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with best practices in data storytelling
• Support self-service BI by enabling users with governed datasets and reusable dashboards
  

4. Data Management & Querying (15%)

• Extract, transform, and analyze data from data warehouses and multiple sources using SQL and other querying tools
• Validate data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across systems
• Collaborate with data engineering teams on data pipelines, data models, and ETL processes
  

5. Data Governance & Quality (5%)

• Support data governance initiatives including data definitions, lineage, and cataloging
• Ensure compliance with data standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements
• Identify and resolve data quality issues and implement controls to prevent recurrence
  

6. Product & Process Improvement (5%)

• Evaluate internal and external data products to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency
• Participate in product development lifecycle (Agile ceremonies, backlog grooming, sprint planning)
• Recommend enhancements to BI tools, data architecture, and reporting frameworks
  

7. Communication & Executive Reporting (5%)

• Present findings and recommendations to leadership in a clear and compelling manner
• Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
• Prepare executive-level summaries, scorecards, and performance reports
  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• No direct supervisory responsibilities; may mentor junior analysts or support cross-functional project teams
  

DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES

• Exercises independent judgment in data analysis, reporting design, and prioritization of assigned work
• Recommends data-driven decisions; final decisions typically made in collaboration with business leaders
  

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related role
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts (e.g., star schema, dimensional modelling)
• Experience across the full BI lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance)
  

CERTIFICATIONS (Preferred but not mandatory)

• Professional Certification on any reporting tools like Looker, Tableau, Power BI and Certified Data Analyst.
• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
