Brown-Forman is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the Africa region’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy across multiple entities under US GAAP and IFRS. The role emphasizes R2R, close processes, and collaboration with global teams to drive compliance and efficiency.

You will manage journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting while working with external auditors on VAT, CIT, WHT, and statutory compliance. A CPA and 3–5+ years in FMCG/spirits are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in FMCG or spirits industry.
• CPA or equivalent (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) required.
• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP platforms, Excel (advanced), and G Suite.
• Advanced knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, local tax regulations, and R2R processes.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsabilités

• Support and oversee financial accounting, reporting, and analysis activities for Africa markets including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records for Africa territories across US GAAP, IFRS, and local regulations.
• Partner with Africa Commercial and Finance teams to provide accounting guidance and improve process efficiency.
• Lead R2R accounting functions: ledgers, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Collaborate with regional teams and external auditors on VAT, CIT, WHT, and statutory compliance.
• Assist Regional Controller with analysis of regional operations and performance.
• Drive system implementations and process improvements with strong internal controls.

Meaningful Work From Day One

This role is primarily responsible for ensuring the overall accuracy and integrity of the Africa region’s financial records across legal entities, complying with US GAAP, IFRS, local tax regulations, statutory requirements, and B-F internal policies and procedures. Responsibilities include performing and overseeing Record to Report (R2R) functions (closing, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow management, tax compliance), partnering closely with Africa Commercial and Finance teams to provide expert advice on accounting and compliance matters, leading the implementation of new systems, special projects, and accounting standards for the region, and supporting Regional Controllers in process improvements, internal controls, and ad hoc analysis.

What You Can Expect

• Support and oversee financial accounting, reporting, and analysis activities for Africa markets, including monthly, quarterly, and annual year-end accounting and closing activities.
• Ensure overall accuracy and integrity of financial records for Africa area territories, complying with US GAAP, local statutory requirements, IFRS, tax regulations, and management reporting.
• Partner with Africa Area Commercial and Finance teams to provide accounting guidance and improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
• Lead and perform key Record to Report (R2R) accounting functions for the region, including ledger reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry bookings, and month-end close.
• Collaborate with Africa area Finance, Corporate Tax, Legal, Treasury, and GBS teams to resolve complex accounting issues and provide support.
• Liaise with external auditors and consultants for VAT, CIT, WHT, PAYE, and statutory compliance-related work.
• Assist the Regional Controller and key commercial partners in analyzing regional operations and financial performance.
• Drive special projects, process improvement initiatives, system implementations, and ensure robust internal control systems for Africa offices.

What You Bring to the Table

• 3-5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or spirits industry.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) required.
• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP platforms, Excel (advanced), and G Suite (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides).
• Advanced knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, local tax regulations, statutory compliance, and R2R processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with strong interpersonal and business partnering skills.
• High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and multi-tasking capabilities.
