Job summary

iTeach Schools in Pune and Navi Mumbai seeks a dynamic secondary teacher to deliver subject lessons, design annual/unit/lesson plans, and assess student progress. You will help create a thriving learning culture and provide feedback to learners.

You will mentor 15–20 students, foster strong study habits, and guide career exploration while collaborating with fellow teachers across the ecosystem. In this in-person role, you’ll also help lead major school events and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with strong academic and holistic performance.
• B Ed is preferred.
• Teaching experience in a secondary grade for 1-2 years is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach your subject (60%): design annual, unit and lesson plans; teach 1–2 subjects to ~30 students; conduct tests and give feedback; foster positive school culture.
• Mentor students (20%): support 15–20 students; develop study habits and attendance strategies; share plans with teachers across the ecosystem; guide career exploration.
• Lead projects in school (20%): collaborate with Principal/VP to lead events like Annual Day, Sports Day, Hobby Clubs; build leadership and mentor new teachers.

Overview

The quality of school education available to students from low-income communities across India is abysmal. Their chances of getting admitted to a college or building a career are much lower than their high-income peers, condemning them to a life without voice or choice. iTeach was born to declare war on this status quo and create a level playing field for ALL children. We do this in Pune and Navi Mumbai by co-creating contextual school models with Municipal Corporations.

We run 12 free and high-impact secondary schools and a college-to-career program for the most disadvantaged students. In 2024, with a staff of 300 members across 12 schools, we will serve 4500 students and 3000 alumni - giving students a fighting chance at college, career, and citizenship. We aim to grow to 30 schools and 10,000 students over the next five years.

Key Responsibilities:

A teacher at iTeach Schools wears multiple hats to ensure an excellent education for their students. The three different parts of the role are:

l - Teaching your subject (60% time)

• Use existing resources and design innovative Annual Plans, Unit Plans, and Lesson Plans
• Teach one or two subjects of your expertise to your class (about 30 students in each class)
• Conduct regular tests and assessments to monitor learning and give feedback to students
• Build a positive and strong school culture with a focus on learning and joy
• Collaborate with the parents of the students through regular meetings to create a positive learning environment

ll - Mentoring students (20% time)

• Mentor nearly 15-20 students throughout the year
• Develop ways to ensure that these students have strong study habits, high attendance, and the drive to excel-share these plans with all teachers across the ecosystem
• Mentor students to identify a best-fit career after Grade X

lll - Leading projects in school (20% time)

• Work with the School Principal and Vice Principal to lead multiple projects essential to student learning (based on your talents), such as Annual Day, Sports Day, Hobby Clubs, etc.
• Use these opportunities to strengthen your leadership skills and mentor new teachers

Education & Experience:

• Required: Bachelors Degree with strong academic and holistic performance
• Preferred: B Ed Degree
• Preferred: Teaching experience in a secondary grade for 1-2 years

Compensation and Benefits:
