Weekday AI is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer – SDET in Bengaluru to drive quality engineering, test automation, and software development initiatives across front-end and back-end applications.

You will design scalable automation frameworks, develop automated and unit tests using Python, Java, or Node.js, and embed quality throughout the SDLC. The role requires 7+ years of hands-on testing, CI/CD integration, and cloud proficiency.

Qualifications

• This role requires 7+ years of experience in SDET, software engineering, or quality engineering.
• Hands-on automation and unit testing across front-end and back-end services are essential.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Node.js/JavaScript is required.
• Strong understanding of OOP, design principles, and scalable automation architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and suites for front-end and back-end applications.
• Develop automated and unit tests using Python, Java, or Node.js/JavaScript.
• Apply OOP and software design principles to test automation.
• Collaborate with developers, PMs, and engineers through the SDLC.
• Create and execute test scenarios using Gherkin and BDD.
• Identify and resolve quality issues across apps, APIs, and distributed services.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Support testing and deployment of cloud-based apps in AWS environments.
• Validate distributed systems with Kafka, SQS, and Kinesis.
• Mentor teammates and drive quality across the lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalableautomated test frameworks and test suitesfor front-end and back-end applications.
• Develop automated and unit tests usingPython, Java, or Node.js/JavaScript.
• Apply strongObject-Oriented Programming, software design, and engineering principlesto test automation.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and engineering stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
• Develop and execute test scenarios usingGherkin and BDD methodologies.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve quality issues across applications, APIs, and distributed services.
• Integrate automated testing and quality gates intoCI/CD pipelines.
• Support testing and deployment of cloud-based applications, particularly withinAWS environments.
• Validate distributed systems and messaging platforms such asKafka, Amazon SQS, and Kinesis.
• Participate actively in Agile/Lean practices, including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and technical discussions.
• Manage test cases, defects, and project documentation usingJira, Xray, and Confluence.
• Monitor application quality and performance using tools such asSonarQube, Grafana, and Datadog.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of automation frameworks, testing strategies, engineering standards, and quality processes.

What's Makes You a Great Fit

• 7+ years of experiencein SDET, Software Engineering, SRE, Quality Engineering, or related roles.
• Strong hands‑on experience inautomated and unit testingof front-end and back-end applications and services.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language:Python, Java, or Node.js/JavaScript.
• Strong understanding ofOOP, software design principles, and scalable automation architecture.
• Experience working inAgile or Lean software development environments.
• Hands‑on experience withGit, Jira, Confluence, and standard SDLC practices.
• Strong coding and debugging skills with an ability to build maintainable automation solutions.
• Experience with production development usingPython, Flask, Django, React, or Node.jsis an advantage.
• Strong backend development experience usingPython or Java.
• Experience building and deploying applications onAWS, including awareness of cost and performance optimization.
• Exposure toKafka, Amazon SQS, or Kinesisand distributed system testing.
• Proficiency inGherkin and BDD-based automation.
• Experience withDocker, Kubernetes, and Spinnakeris preferred.
• Familiarity withSonarQube, Grafana, and Datadogfor code quality, monitoring, and observability.
