Job summary

Corning Technologies in India is seeking a technical lab specialist to design, analyze, and report experiments, and to support scientists with data and execution. You will ensure the lab runs smoothly and act as the technical expert across lab techniques and responsibilities.

The role involves contributing to experiment design, maintaining equipment, and mentoring new personnel while collaborating with customers to test samples and present data at team meetings.

Responsibilities

• Acts as technical expert for all lab techniques and responsibilities.
• Oversees operation and maintenance of highly technical equipment.
• Contributes to experiment design and execution for material properties and processes.
• Develops methods, tools and techniques to improve lab processes.
• Assists with writing IDs and IPs.
• Reviews quotes and tracks orders for new equipment purchases.
• Troubleshoots process and equipment issues and implements corrective actions.
• Performs day-to-day problem solving for research projects.
• Tests feasibility of products.
• Documents data, maintains lab books, writes SOPs and reports.
• Collaborates with customers to understand their needs to run and test samples.
• Accesses, analyzes and presents data at team meetings.
• Functions as a team member or leader on focused projects.
• Trains and coaches new personnel on equipment and processes.
• May participate in developing new processes or machines to improve current operations.

Role Purpose

Uses rigorous methods to design, analyze and report on experiments to solve difficult technical problems or enhance fundamental understanding. Serves as technical expert in specialty area to support internal customers. Provides data and support to the scientists in experiment execution. Ensures the lab is in good working order. Acts as the technical expert for all lab techniques and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Acts as technical expert for all lab techniques and responsibilities
• Provides oversight for operation and maintenance of highly technical equipment
• Provides inputs to experiment design and execution for material properties and processes
• Develops methods, tools and techniques to improve processes in the lab
• Provides inputs to the writing of IDs and IPs
• Makes recommendations for purchasing new equipment, including identifying vendors, collecting quotes and tracking orders
• Troubleshoots process and equipment issues and oversees implementation of corrective actions
• Conducts day-to-day problem solving for research projects
• Tests feasibility of products
• Documents data, maintains lab books, writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reports
• Works with customers to understand their needs or requirements to run and test samples
• Accesses, analyzes and presents data at team meetings
• Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects
• Trains and coaches new personnel on equipment and processes
• May be asked to participate in developing a new process or machine to improve the current process

For example: characterization technique, measurement system, model, patent application, data management /data engineering system, invention disclosure, process or product innovation, trade secret, or software asset, etc.
