About the Role

We are recruiting a full-time Schools Assistant to support delivery of non-formal education programs for under-served children in Mumbai. The role involves day-to-day classroom support, tracking student attendance and learning activities, maintaining basic records, coordinating with parents and community volunteers, and following child-safeguarding and safety protocols. The Schools Assistant will work closely with teachers and program officers to prepare materials, set up learning spaces, and ensure consistent learner participation.

Key responsibilities include marking and reporting daily attendance, preparing simple classroom materials and activity kits, maintaining student files and basic digital logs, communicating regularly with parents about attendance and learning, and escalating any child-protection concerns. The role requires punctual field presence, good interpersonal skills in Hindi and Marathi/English, and comfort working in low-resource community settings.

Minimum qualification is a Bachelor’s degree in BSW, BA, BCom, BSc or equivalent. This is an entry-level position for candidates with little or no professional experience; training will be provided on pedagogy, safeguarding, and record-keeping. Candidates must be based in Mumbai and able to travel locally to assigned community centres during school hours.
