Job Description - SAP MM Consultant (MER0003ZHG)

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect – SAP MM to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-wide Materials Management solutions on SAP S/4HANA. This pivotal role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver scalable, high‑performance SAP MM architectures aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate combines deep SAP MM expertise with strong analytical capabilities and proven project delivery experience.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead solution architect for SAP S/4HANA MM, overseeing complete solution design, configuration, and delivery aligned with organizational business goals and IT strategy.
  • Design end‑to‑end SAP MM architecture encompassing procurement, inventory management, and supply chain optimization processes.
  • Define SAP MM architecture and integration strategy with other SAP modules (SD, PP, FI/CO, QM) and non‑SAP enterprise systems (e.g., Ariba, SuccessFactors, Concur).
  • Ensure seamless system integration and adherence to industry best practices, scalability requirements, and security standards.
  • Translate complex business requirements into detailed technical specifications and scalable, high‑performance SAP solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business process owners, and enterprise teams to gather, analyze, and document comprehensive business requirements.
  • Lead fit‑gap analysis workshops and blueprinting sessions, identifying process optimization opportunities and recommended enhancements.
  • Convert business needs into clear technical specifications, functional design documents, and architectural frameworks.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for process standardization and alignment with SAP best practices.
  • Lead SAP MM implementation projects from initiation through cutover, including configuration management, testing strategy definition, and data migration planning.
  • Oversee system configuration, data mapping, and technical integration points between MM and related modules.
  • Collaborate with SAP consultants, ABAP developers, and QA teams to define enhancements, customizations, and extensions (e.g., user exits, BADIs, web services).
  • Support testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, UAT, and system validation to ensure robust performance.
  • Manage cutover activities, including parallel runs, data validation, and go‑live coordination.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to SAP MM implementation teams, junior consultants, and technical resources.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks; propose mitigation strategies and contingency plans for complex implementation challenges.
  • Conduct design and implementation reviews to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Document architectural decisions, design rationale, and configuration guidelines for knowledge transfer.
  • Lead change management initiatives including impact assessments, stakeholder communication, and organizational readiness planning.
  • Develop and execute user training strategies, including workshops, documentation, and hands‑on training sessions.
  • Support post‑implementation optimization, including performance tuning, process refinement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation including solution architectures, process flows, configuration guides, data migration strategies, and runbooks.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders in understandable terms; ensure alignment between technical design and business objectives.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date architectural documentation and configuration repositories for future support and enhancements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7–10 years of professional experience in SAP implementation and consulting, with at least 5+ years focused on SAP MM module.
  • 3+ years in a Solution Architect, Lead Consultant, or Senior Consultant role managing enterprise‑level implementations.
  • Proven track record of leading end‑to‑end SAP MM implementations across multiple industries (automotive, manufacturing, retail, pharma, or FMCG preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP S/4HANA MM configuration, including Purchase‑to‑Pay (P2P), Inventory Management, Procurement, and Demand Planning processes.
  • Deep expertise in SAP MM module functionality: Purchasing, Material Planning, Inventory Management, Vendor Management, and Procurement workflows.
  • Strong understanding of SAP module integration: SAP SD (Sales & Distribution), SAP PP (Production Planning), SAP FI/CO (Finance), SAP QM (Quality Management).
  • Experience with SAP Fiori applications, OData services, and user interface customizations.
  • Knowledge of data migration tools: SAP Data Services, BW/4HANA, or third‑party ETL tools.
  • Understanding of ABAP basics (user exits, BADIs, enhancements) and experience collaborating with development teams.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA architecture, security, and cloud deployment options (SAP Cloud, Private Cloud).
  • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP Materials Management (SAP MM) (highly preferred).
  • Additional SAP certifications in related modules (SD, PP, FI/CO) considered advantageous.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to align technical solutions to business objectives.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities; ability to guide and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to present technical concepts to executive and end‑user audiences.

  • Knowledge of advanced procurement strategies: Vendor‑Managed Inventory (VMI), Consignment Inventory, Supplier Collaboration.
  • Exposure to supply chain optimization, demand‑driven material requirements planning (DDMRP), or S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) processes.
  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or Business Intelligence (BI/4HANA) reporting on MM data.
  • Familiarity with Ariba integration for Procure‑to‑Pay processes.
  • Prior experience in automotive or manufacturing sector implementations.
  • Knowledge of industry‑specific SAP solutions or vertical solutions (e.g., SAP for Utilities, SAP for Chemicals).
  • Exposure to robotic process automation (RPA) or intelligent automation in procurement.
