Responsibilities

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP Functional Specialist based in India. This is a senior-level SAP functional role focused on logistics execution, sales and distribution, and end-to-end supply chain processes. You will take ownership of the full software implementation lifecycle, from SAP configuration and testing through deployment and post-go-live support. The role centres on optimizing inbound and outbound B2B backbone solutions while resolving complex integration and operational issues. You will work across SAP MM, SD, EWM, 3PL WMS, and related business processes, with particular relevance to retail environments. The position requires strong functional design capabilities, including requirements analysis, gap assessment, functional specifications, testing, documentation, and user training. You will collaborate with application management and technical teams while independently evaluating solution alternatives and designing effective custom approaches. This is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale SAP transformation initiatives while applying deep expertise in logistics, warehouse operations, and integrated supply chain solutions.

Accountabilities

• Manage the complete SAP software implementation lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution configuration, test planning, test execution, deployment, and post-go-live support.
• Configure SAP solutions across Logistics Execution and Sales & Distribution in line with business requirements and agreed solution designs.
• Own the investigation and resolution of complex inbound and outbound B2B backbone issues, collaborating with application-management teams when required.
• Analyze existing B2B backbone solutions and identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
• Conduct requirements and gap analysis and translate business needs into functional solution designs and specifications.
• Develop functional specifications and coordinate with technical teams on enhancements, integrations, and custom development.
• Support warehouse-to-store and warehouse-to-warehouse inventory movement processes, ensuring effective integration across relevant SAP and warehouse systems.
• Work with SAP MM and support Supply Chain processes, including Stock Transport Order (STO) scenarios.
• Support integration between SAP ECC, SAP EWM, and third-party warehouse management systems.
• Ensure effective integration across SAP SD-MM and SD-FI processes and identify potential cross-functional impacts of proposed solutions.
• Design and evaluate alternative solution approaches, assessing feasibility, scalability, business fit, and technical implications before recommending the preferred option.
• Support wholesale business processes and related SAP configuration requirements.
• Lead or contribute to major enhancements involving RICEFW objects, APIs, BAPIs, BADIs, and other SAP extension mechanisms.
• Design custom solutions where standard SAP functionality does not fully address business requirements.
• Support e-transport solutions and associated logistics processes.
• Prepare user documentation, training materials, and functional specifications and deliver training to relevant business users.
• Provide functional support during testing, deployment, and post-production operations.
• Collaborate effectively with business, technical, application-management, and integration teams while sharing knowledge and supporting collective problem-solving.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and document and present proposed design and process improvements.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional SAP experience, with significant expertise in SAP Logistics Execution and Sales & Distribution.
• Experience participating in at least 3 SAP implementations and 2 SAP support projects.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of SAP MM, particularly Stock Transport Order (STO) processes.
• Strong understanding and practical experience integrating SAP ECC with SAP EWM and third‑party WMS solutions.
• Extensive experience with warehouse‑to‑store and warehouse‑to‑warehouse inventory movement processes.
• Previous experience working with retail clients or within retail organizations.
• Strong understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain and logistics processes.
• Deep expertise in SAP Logistics Execution and SAP SD configuration, requirements and gap analysis, functional specifications, user training, documentation, and production support.
• Strong understanding of SAP SD‑MM and SD‑FI integration.
• Ability to assess multiple solution alternatives and identify the most effective approach based on business requirements, technical feasibility, and long‑term maintainability.
• Good understanding of wholesale business processes and their configuration within SAP.
• Strong experience delivering major enhancements involving RICEFW objects, APIs, BAPIs, and BADIs.
• Ability to design and implement custom SAP solutions where required.
• Experience with e‑transport solutions.
• Strong understanding of SAP Logistics Execution and Sales & Distribution concepts, principles, design patterns, and configuration.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and knowledge‑sharing skills, with the ability to explain complex functional concepts to both technical and business stakeholders.
• ABAP debugging experience is an advantage.
• Hands‑on experience integrating SAP with external systems is preferred.
• Experience working in Agile environments is beneficial.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly for documenting and presenting solution designs and process improvements.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA is preferred.
• Experience with SAP Retail is an additional advantage.
• Professional fluency in English.
