Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP Basis Administrator based in India.

As a SAP Basis Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining the stability, performance, security, and reliability of complex SAP environments. You will oversee core SAP technical administration, including HANA database operations, system monitoring, upgrades, migrations, and production support. Working in a global, technology-driven environment, you will collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, cloud, and managed-service teams to ensure seamless operations. You will contribute to high availability, disaster recovery, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting business-critical systems. The role also offers opportunities to work with modern SAP technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, RISE with SAP, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Accountabilities

• Manage and maintain SAP technical environments, ensuring system availability, stability, performance, and operational reliability across complex landscapes.

• Administer SAP HANA databases, including monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and routine maintenance activities.

• Oversee SAP system upgrades, kernel updates, patching, maintenance activities, system refreshes, and system copies in line with operational requirements.

• Manage SAP transport processes and coordinate technical changes across development, quality assurance, and production environments.

• Monitor SAP systems, investigate technical issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and resolve incidents to minimize downtime and business disruption.

• Support high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies, including planning, testing, recovery procedures, and technical risk assessments.

• Maintain SAP security configurations and support single sign‑on (SSO), access‑related controls, audit requirements, and compliance activities.

• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, and external service‑provider teams to coordinate system maintenance, incident resolution, and technical improvements.

• Contribute to SAP cloud and transformation initiatives, including RISE with SAP, SAP BTP administration, Cloud Connector configuration, identity management, connectivity, and SAP Integration Suite support.

• Coordinate major incidents, change management, go‑live activities, and cutover planning while maintaining technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational guidelines.

• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to colleagues, support continuous improvement initiatives, and communicate system status, risks, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional experience in SAP technical administration and SAP Basis operations, including production support and the management of complex SAP landscapes.

• Strong expertise in SAP Basis administration, SAP HANA database management, system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and technical maintenance.

• Hands‑on experience with SAP system upgrades, patching, migrations, system refreshes, system copies, and transport management.

• Solid understanding of SAP security fundamentals, single sign‑on (SSO), high availability, disaster recovery, and production operations.

• Experience coordinating major incidents, change and problem management, technical risk assessments, and business‑critical maintenance activities.

• Familiarity with SAP cloud environments and RISE with SAP, with working exposure to SAP BTP administration, Cloud Connector, identity and security management, connectivity, and SAP Integration Suite.

• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA environments and transformation projects, including go‑live preparation and cutover planning.

• Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with infrastructure, application, functional, security, cloud, and managed‑service teams.

• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, combined with a proactive approach to identifying technical risks and resolving complex system issues.

• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills, including the ability to develop SOPs, support audits, and share technical knowledge.

• Demonstrated technical ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a global, fast‑paced environment.
