The ideal candidate will have 6+ years in SAP functional consulting with strong F&A or SCM domain knowledge and proven client-facing communication. Pre-sales involvement and solution design are part of the scope.

SAP Functional SME BDC / Datasphere / RISE

Role Overview

We are looking for an SAP Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong functional expertise across SAPs modern data and cloud ecosystem, including SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), SAP Datasphere, SAP ECC, RISE with SAP, and SAP for Databricks.

The ideal candidate should have strong domain expertise in Finance & Accounting (F&A) and/or Supply Chain Management (SCM) and experience working with business and technical teams to define data, integration, migration, and modernization strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the functional SME for SAP engagements involving SAP BDC, Datasphere, ECC, RISE, and SAP-to-cloud data solutions.
• Lead functional design, requirement gathering, and solutioning for SAP BDC and SAP Datasphere implementations.
• Support SAP ECC to RISE with SAP / S/4HANA migration initiatives, ensuring functional continuity and data integrity.
• Provide functional expertise for SAP-to-Databricks integrations and modern cloud data platforms.
• Translate business and SAP functional requirements into technical specifications for data engineering and integration teams.
• Conduct requirement gathering, fit-gap analysis, process mapping, and solution design across F&A and/or SCM.
• Work closely with client stakeholders to understand business processes, identify pain points, and recommend SAP-aligned solutions.
• Collaborate with technical architects, data engineers, and cloud teams to design scalable SAP data and integration solutions.
• Support the complete project lifecycle, including requirements, design, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
• Participate in client workshops and stakeholder discussions, acting as the bridge between business, SAP functional, and technical teams.
• Contribute to pre-sales activities, including solution scoping, effort estimation, RFP/RFI responses, SOW preparation, and proposal development.
• Stay current with SAP's evolving BDC, Datasphere, RISE, S/4HANA, and SAP data platform roadmap and advise clients on adoption strategies.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of overall experience in SAP functional consulting, with strong domain depth in Finance & Accounting (F&A) and/or Supply Chain Management (SCM)
• Hands-on functional experience with SAP BDC (Business Data Cloud) and SAP Datasphere
• Strong working knowledge of SAP ECC and experience supporting RISE with SAP migrations
• Functional exposure to SAP for Databricks integrations
• Ability to translate business/functional requirements into technical specifications for data engineering teams
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing consulting experience
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences

Good to Have

• SAP certifications in FI/CO, SCM, Datasphere, BDC, or S/4HANA.
• Experience working with Databricks and cloud data platform teams.
• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA implementations.
• Experience in SAP modernization / cloud transformation programs.
• Prior experience in consulting or professional services organizations.
• Experience with RFP/RFI, SOW, proposal development, solution scoping, and effort estimation.
• Understanding of SAP data models, integration patterns, and enterprise data architecture.

The ideal candidate is a functional SAP consultant/SME who combines strong F&A or SCM process knowledge with hands-on experience in SAP Datasphere/BDC and SAP modernization initiatives. They should be comfortable working across SAP functional, data engineering, cloud, and business stakeholder teams and should have strong consulting and client-facing capabilities.
