Job summary

Ford Motor in India is seeking a seasoned SAP Data Migration Specialist to lead SAP BODS development and S/4HANA migration activities. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and deploying data conversion solutions while coordinating with business users and project teams.

The candidate will build ETL processes, optimise performance, and support cutover activities, ensuring data quality and governance throughout the migration journey.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) development experience.
• Strong experience in SAP data migration and ETL development.
• Experience supporting at least one end-to-end SAP S/4HANA implementation or migration programme.
• Hands-on experience developing extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Strong SQL and SAP BODS scripting experience.
• Experience with DMC, IDOCs, and BAPIs.
• Experience supporting migration deployments and cutovers.

Responsibilities

• Implement data validation and reconciliation; monitor data quality and readiness.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve data quality issues and ensure successful migration.
• Analyse, resolve ETL and migration issues; optimise jobs for performance and scalability.
• Assist with mock conversions, dress rehearsals, and production cutovers; monitor post-load validation.
• Prepare technical design documents, migration specs, and support documentation.
• Collaborate with consultants, users, architects, and project teams; share knowledge and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring in the Additional Responsibilities section as applicable.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS), SAP S/4HANA data migration, ETL development, and large-scale enterprise transformation programmes.

This role requires hands-on expertise in designing, developing, testing, and deploying data conversion solutions while supporting business stakeholders and project teams throughout migration and cutover activities.

The candidate should have strong technical knowledge of SAP migration tools, data quality frameworks, performance optimisation, and migration best practices.

Responsibilities

SAP Data Migration Development

• Design, develop, and maintain SAP BODS jobs to support enterprise data migration programmes.
• Build extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from SAP and non-SAP source systems.
• Develop data conversion solutions based on approved functional and technical specifications.
• Create reusable frameworks and standards for migration activities.

SAP S/4HANA Data Conversion

• Support end-to-end SAP S/4HANA implementation and migration programmes.
• Design and execute data migration strategies for master data and transactional data objects.

• Support Data Migration Cockpit (DMC), IDOCs, BAPIs, and file-based migration approaches.

Data Quality and Governance

• Implement data validation and reconciliation processes.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to resolve data quality issues and ensure successful migration outcomes.

Performance Optimisation

• Analyse and resolve ETL and migration-related issues.
• Optimise SAP BODS jobs for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Apply best practices in SQL, data processing, and ETL design.

Cutover and Deployment Support

• Support mock conversions, dress rehearsals, and production cutovers.
• Execute migration deployments and monitor post-load validation activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during migration events.

Documentation and Collaboration

• Prepare and maintain technical design documents, migration specifications, and support documentation.
• Collaborate with functional consultants, business users, architects, and project teams.
• Share knowledge and provide guidance on SAP BODS development and migration best practices.

Additional Responsibilities (for Technical Lead role)

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to development teams.
• Conduct design reviews and code reviews.
• Support estimation, planning, and delivery governance activities.
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for migration-related challenges.

Qualifications

Required

• Strong experience in SAP data migration and ETL development.

• Strong SQL and SAP BODS scripting experience.
• Experience with common BODS transformations including Query, Validation, Map Operation, and Table Comparison.
• Experience supporting migration deployments, mock cutovers, dress rehearsals, and production cutovers.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Experience in three or more full-cycle SAP implementation or migration projects.
• Experience with SAP Data Migration Cockpit (DMC).
• Experience migrating data from legacy ERP applications.
• Knowledge of SAP Integration technologies including IDOCs and BAPIs.
• Experience leading offshore or distributed development teams.
• SAP Data Services certification.
