Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking experienced SAP ABAP developers to join our team to support the Quality Management (QM) module—specifically the Inspection & Planning area—with strong regulatory (GxP) awareness. The role will work closely with QM functional consultants, Quality/Compliance teams, and cross‑module SAP implementation/maintenance teams to build and enhance custom developments, integrations and automations that support inspection planning, results recording, sampling, usage decisions, and regulatory audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand functional requirements in the QM – Inspection & Planning domain (Master Inspection Characteristics, Inspection Methods, Inspection Plans, Sampling procedures/ schemes, Usage Decisions) and translate them into robust ABAP technical specifications.
• Develop, enhance, unit test, and deploy ABAP objects (reports, interfaces, enhancements, BAPIs, RFCs, IDocs, OData/web services, ALV forms, SmartForms/Adobe forms) to support QM processes.
• Work in SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA environments; ensure code is aligned with best practices, performance‑optimised, and maintainable.
• Ensure integration with other modules (MM, PP, SD, PM, WM) and with external systems (MES, LIMS, laboratory systems) where relevant.
• Participate in analysis of gaps, prepare technical specification documents, and participate in code reviews, peer reviews, debugging/troubleshooting.
• Support testing cycles: unit testing, integration testing, UAT support with functional teams, defect resolution, transport management.
• Ensure developments are GxP‑compliant—support audit trails, regulatory documentation, change control, validation readiness.
• Provide support post go‑live (hypercare), enhancements, corrective actions and continuous improvement of technical solutions.
• Collaborate with offshore/onsite teams, share knowledge, mentor junior developers (as required).

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 4-8 years (adjustable based on seniority) of hands‑on SAP ABAP development experience (in both ECC and S/4HANA preferred).
• Strong proficiency in ABAP core concepts: Object‑Oriented ABAP, ALV, SmartForms, Adobe Forms, BAPI, RFC, IDocs, enhancement framework, user exits, BADI.
• Experience in interfaces/integration: RFC, Web Services, OData, APIs, IDocs.
• Good understanding of SAP QM module (Inspection Planning, Sampling Procedures, Usage Decisions, Results Recording) and its technical requirements.
• Prior exposure to GxP / regulatory environments (pharma, life sciences, medical devices) in SAP QM context—ensuring system compliance, audit readiness, validation documentation.
• Experience in S/4HANA enhancements (CDS views, AMDP, performance optimisation) is a plus.
• Ability to analyse functional specifications and convert to technical specifications.
• Good debugging, performance tracing (SQL Trace, Code Inspector, ABAP Test Cockpit) and optimisation skills.
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills. Ability to work with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and developers.
• Ability to work in a fast‑changing environment, handle multiple tasks, prioritise effectively.
• Good English (written and verbal) and ability to produce technical documentation.

Desirable / Nice to Have

• Certification in SAP ABAP or S/4HANA ABAP.
• Experience in global rollout projects, multi‑country implementations.
• Experience in SAP QM functional domain as well (dual technical + functional capability).
• Knowledge of validation/qualification processes (IQ/OQ/PQ), documentation for computerised systems in regulated environment.
• Exposure to SAP Fiori/UI5 for QM mobile/interactive use cases.
• Prior experience working with LIMS/MES/Lab systems integration or pharmaceuticals/medical devices/manufacturing industry.
