The Global Solution Owner Automation and AI is responsible for leading the products, architecture, vendor relationships, and compliance globally. This role handles the rollout of new solutions in support of People & Culture strategy, business requirements, and safeguarding bp’s interests, while supporting the day-to-day integrity of the Virtual Assistant and AI solutions. The role serves as an internal consultant and key liaison between the Operations & Advisory leadership and Operational Excellence team; Centres of Expertise, Technology, and outside service providers regarding best methodologies, tools, and technology needed to deliver PC&C solutions. The purpose of this role is to support bp colleagues in navigating people and culture digital applications; innovate and deliver P&C solutions globally, ensuring compliance and consistency across Business & Technology Centres, and driving continuous improvement and efficiency; resolve sophisticated technical application issues; coach other application support specialists and to develop insights and knowledge materials that can be used to improve the people and culture digital experience. The role is not just “to own a chatbot” – it’s owning the digital PC&C experience layer. As a Salesforce Technical Lead at BP PLC, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing robust Salesforce solutions, ensuring technical excellence and strategic alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design, development, and implementation of complex Salesforce solutions, adhering to best practices and architectural standards.
• Drive continuous improvement through the application of Agility core practices, fostering an agile and responsive development environment.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, product owners, and other technical leads, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Manage and optimize Salesforce configurations, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Oversee continuous deployment and release processes for Salesforce applications, ensuring smooth and reliable deployments.
• Contribute to creating a high-performing team by mentoring junior developers, fostering knowledge sharing, and promoting a culture of technical excellence.
• Design and implement effective Database Design and Relational Data Modelling strategies within the Salesforce ecosystem.
• Apply Digital Project Management principles to ensure the timely and successful delivery of Salesforce projects.
• Facilitate technical discussions, workshops, and decision-making processes.
• Ensure the security and integrity of Salesforce data and applications, adhering to Information Security best practices.
• Develop and maintain scripts for automation, data manipulation, and integration purposes.
• Champion Service operations and resilience for Salesforce solutions, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
• Implement and enforce robust Source control and code management practices for Salesforce development.
• Lead System Design efforts for new Salesforce features and integrations, ensuring architectural soundness and future scalability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Salesforce Technical Lead or similar senior technical role.
• Deep expertise in Salesforce platform capabilities, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and other relevant modules.
• Strong understanding and practical application of Agility core practices.
• Excellent Collaboration and Communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide technical teams.
• Extensive experience with Configuration management and release processes in Salesforce.
• Demonstrable experience with Continuous deployment and release strategies.
• Track record of Creating a high performing team and fostering technical growth.
• Proficiency in Database Design and Relational Data Modelling within a Salesforce context.
• Solid understanding of Digital Project Management methodologies.
• Exceptional Facilitation skills for technical discussions and problem-solving.
• In-depth knowledge of Information Security principles and best practices for Salesforce.
• Strong Scripting abilities (e.g., Apex, JavaScript, SOQL, SOSL).
• Experience with Service operations and resilience planning for enterprise applications.
• Expertise in Source control and code management tools (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps).
• Comprehensive knowledge of System Design principles and architectural patterns.
