Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Mahindra And Mahindra Limited seeks an Engineer-SSI to drive safety systems integration for vehicle restraints. You will develop concepts, perform packaging analyses, map airbag zones using CATIA V5, and generate BoMs, drawings, and gateway documents for release.
Lead DFMEA and design reviews, coordinate with suppliers, manage DVP activities, and resolve build issues while pursuing weight and cost reduction without compromising safety and compliance.
As a Engineer in Safety Systems Integration at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in the development and integration of vehicle restraint systems. Your responsibilities will include collaborating on conceptual design proposals, conducting comprehensive packaging and feasibility analyses for restraints components to ensure optimal fit and function. You will be tasked with mapping critical airbag impact zones, such as CAB, SAB, and KAB, using advanced CAD techniques, as well as creating detailed pedestrian mapping zones within vehicle models. This requires proficiency in drafting and design using CatiaV5 R21 software, as well as producing Bills of Materials (BoM), parts numbering, and detailed drawings required for release and homologation processes. You will prepare and release documentation in alignment with gateway milestones, including lesson learned reports. Leading and facilitating Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Reviews (DR) will also be essential to assure safety and quality standards are met. Coordination with suppliers is a key component of your role, overseeing Design Verification Plans (DVP) and other design activities to ensure timely and effective development of restraint systems. Addressing and resolving interface concerns, line build, and prototype build issues will form part of your daily operations. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving initiatives related to weight optimization and cost reduction without compromising safety or compliance standards.
The ideal candidate will have between 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in automotive safety systems engineering or a closely related field. Experience should include involvement in restraint system design, integration, and supplier management, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional development teams. Proficiency in CAD software, particularly CatiaV5 R21, is essential, alongside a strong understanding of DFMEA methodologies and gateway clearance processes within automotive product development cycles. Prior exposure to homologation requirements and the release process for vehicle safety components will be highly advantageous. Familiarity with development and verification protocols such as DVP and hands-on experience in resolving issues during prototype and line builds are expected. The candidate should also have a background in executing weight and cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product integrity and safety compliance.
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably a BE or B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, or a closely related engineering discipline. A solid foundation in mechanical design principles and vehicle systems is critical. Advanced qualifications or certification in automotive safety standards, product development methodologies, or CAD software training will be considered beneficial. Knowledge of industry safety regulations, homologation norms, and quality management systems will further enhance your suitability for this role. Strong analytical skills accompanied by effective communication capabilities and the ability to work well in multi-disciplinary teams are key attributes we value in our engineering professionals.
This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to project timelines. Candidates must demonstrate proactive problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards throughout the product development lifecycle. The role entails regular interaction with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders; therefore, effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential. We value individuals who approach challenges with innovation and collaborate inclusively to achieve shared goals. The ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables is crucial, alongside a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement within the safety systems domain.
