Job summary

Emcure in Pune, India, seeks an experienced Safety / EHS professional to lead Process Safety Management (PSM) across our manufacturing facility. The role focuses on risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and building a proactive safety culture for chemical/pharmaceutical processes.

The ideal candidate will have BE Chemical or BTech Chemical, ADIS mandatory, 10-12 years total with at least 5 years in PSM, and will manage audits, PTW/LOTO, incident investigations, training, and safety

Qualifications

  • BE/ B.Tech (Chemical) with ADIS mandatory.
  • PGD in Process Safety Management preferred.
  • 10–12 years total experience; min 5 years in Process Safety Management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct process safety studies (HIRA, HAZOP, PSSR) and risk assessments for equipment and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Factories Act 1948, Maharashtra Safety Officers Rules 1982, and related EHS regulations; participate in audits.
  • Oversee PTW and LOTO systems; perform safety inspections; drive corrective actions and CAPA after incidents.
  • Lead safety trainings, toolbox talks, and safety week activities; manage safety documentation and SOPs.

Job description

Job Title: Supervisor - Safety / EHS (Process Safety)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Safety / EHS professional with strong expertise in Process Safety Management (PSM) to lead safety initiatives, ensure statutory compliance, conduct risk assessments, and drive a proactive safety culture across our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, API, petrochemical, or process manufacturing environments.

Role & Responsibilities

Process Safety Management

  • Conduct and facilitate HIRA, HAZOP, PSSR, and other process safety studies.
  • Perform risk assessments for equipment, facilities, URS, IQ, OQ, commissioning, and modification projects.
  • Assess critical operations from a process safety perspective and develop control measures.
  • Prepare compatibility charts and ensure safe chemical storage practices.

EHS Compliance & Governance

  • Perform duties of Safety Officer as per Factories Act 1948, Maharashtra Factories Rules 1963, and Maharashtra Safety Officers Rules 1982.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and organizational EHS requirements.
  • Participate in internal, external, and regulatory audits.

Safety Inspections & Risk Control

  • Conduct routine plant safety inspections and audits.
  • Identify unsafe acts and conditions, recommend corrective measures, and monitor closure.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Permit to Work (PTW) and LOTO systems.

Incident Investigation & CAPA

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA.
  • Monitor incident trends and prepare periodic safety reports.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain Emergency Control Centre (ECC), Emergency Cupboard, and emergency response equipment.
  • Conduct Mock Drills, CSCM, and DSCM exercises.
  • Support implementation of On-Site Emergency Plans and emergency response systems.

Safety Training & Employee Engagement

  • Conduct EHS training programs, awareness sessions, and Toolbox Talks (TBTs).
  • Organize National Safety Week, Fire Service Week, Road Safety Week, and Environment Day activities.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives to strengthen safety culture.

Documentation & Safety Systems

  • Prepare, review, and update EHS SOPs and safety documentation.
  • Maintain EHS records, permits, formats, and logbooks.
  • Develop PPE matrices and monitor PPE compliance.

Safety Committee Management

  • Coordinate Safety Committee meetings.
  • Track and ensure closure of safety observations and action items.
  • Monitor compliance of Sunday Duty Manager and Night Duty Manager observations.

Preferred candidate profile

Education

  • B.E. Chemical Engineering / B.Tech (Chemical)
  • ADIS (Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety) - Mandatory

Preferred Qualification

  • PGD in Process Safety Management (PSM)

Experience

  • 10-12 years of overall experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Safety Management
