Role Overview

We are looking for a highly technical and hands‑on Safety & Reliability Engineer to join our systems engineering team. You will be responsible for ensuring that complex aircraft systems meet the highest levels of safety and airworthiness. This role requires a deep, practitioner‑level understanding of ARP4761 and ARP4754A/B, with the ability to execute the entire safety lifecycle from initial concept through to certification.

The successful candidate will act as the primary authority on safety assessments, working cross‑functionally with systems, hardware, and software teams to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with DO‑178C and DO‑330 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety Lifecycle Execution: Lead and execute safety processes in accordance with ARP4761, including the development of Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), and System Safety Assessments (SSA).
• Hazard Analysis: Conduct in‑depth Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) at both the aircraft and system levels to identify failure conditions and assign Development Assurance Levels (DAL).
• Reliability Modeling: Build and maintain complex reliability models using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA), and Common Cause Analysis (CCA/ZSA/PSSA).
• Process Integration: Ensure seamless integration between the safety process and the systems development lifecycle as defined by ARP4754.
• Software Safety Oversight: Provide technical guidance on DO‑178C compliance, ensuring that software safety requirements are correctly derived, traced, and verified.
• Tool Qualification: Manage and execute tool qualification processes according to DO‑330, ensuring that all software tools used in the development and verification of safety‑critical systems are fit for purpose.
• Certification Liaison: Prepare and present safety cases and certification artifacts to regulatory authorities (FAA/EASA) or designated representatives.

Required Technical Expertise

• Standards & Regulations: Mastery of ARP4761, ARP4754A, DO‑178C, and DO‑254.
• Safety Methodologies: Proven experience in generating quantitative and qualitative FTAs, Dependence Diagrams, and Markov Analysis.
• Systems Engineering: Strong understanding of Requirements Management and Traceability (e.g., using DOORS or Jama).
• Software Assurance: Direct experience with DO‑330 tool qualification levels (TQL‑1 through TQL‑5).
• Domain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems such as Flight Control, Avionics, Power Distribution, or Propulsion.
