Responsibilities

• Safety Compliance & Audits: Regularly inspect plant machinery, shop floors, and operations for compliance with factory acts and local rules.
• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIZA): Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend preventive controls.
• Permit-to-Work System: Manage and monitor safety permits for high‑risk activities.
• Safety Training & Toolbox Talks: Conduct daily safety talks and inductions for workers and contractors.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate near-misses, accidents, and injuries; prepare RCA reports; implement corrective actions.
• Emergency Preparedness: Maintain safety equipment and coordinate mock drills.

Job description

• Safety Compliance & Audits: Regularly inspect plant machinery, shop floors, and operations to ensure compliance with factory safety acts, OSHA/local statutory rules, and company EHS guidelines.

• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIZA): Identify potential workplace hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend preventive or corrective control measures.

• Permit-to-Work System: Manage and monitor safety permits for high-risk activities such as hot work, working at heights, confined space entry, and electrical maintenance.

• Safety Training & Toolbox Talks: Conduct daily morning toolbox talks, safety inductions for new workers/contractors, and periodic training sessions on fire fighting, PPE usage, and emergency response.

• Incident Investigation: Investigate near-misses, accidents, or occupational injuries, prepare root-cause analysis (RCA) reports, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Emergency Preparedness: Maintain safety equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, first-aid boxes, PPE) and coordinate mock drills periodically.

3. Eligibility & Qualifications

• Educational Qualification:

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil), OR

  • Graduate/Diploma in Industrial Safety (e.g., ADIS - Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety recognized by the State Technical Board or Central Labour Institute).

• Experience: 2 to 6 years of hands‑on safety experience in a manufacturing plant, steel industry, sponge iron, rolling mill, or heavy engineering sector.

• Certifications: Certified Industrial Safety professional credentials or specialized fire-safety training is a strong plus.

• Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of Factory Acts, safety standards, and statutory compliance.

  • Strong observation, incident-tracking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to handle shop‑floor workers and contractors firmly yet politely.

  • Proficiency in local languages (Hindi/Chhattisgarhia) alongside English for safety documentation.
