Job summary

Afcons Infrastructure Limited is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer / Engineer to oversee Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) compliance across marine and industrial project sites. You will be responsible for implementing HSE plans, conducting audits, training personnel, and ensuring statutory adherence.

Role requires 5–10 years in safety with experience on large infrastructure projects. Travel between sites in India and a strong focus on safety culture and incident prevention will be essential.

Qualifications

• Educational background includes B-Tech in Civil / Electrical / Mechanical with recognized Diploma in occupational health and safety.
• Desirable: M-Tech Civil / Mechanical / Electrical, NEBOSH Diploma or related safety qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitor site locations to ensure SHE guidelines comply with contract and laws.
• Conduct HSE training and awareness programs for employees and subcontractors.
• Develop and review HSE procedures and monitor compliance across sites.
• Ensure timely documentation and reporting of HSE incidents and actions.

Roles and Responsibilities 01

Implementation of Site Safety Management Function

• Supporting for implementation and periodic review (For updating) of project Heath Safety and Environment (HSE) Plan
• Assisting in development and review of procedures and systems designed to facilitate safe work
• Supporting establishment of monitoring regime to ensure that unsafe systems, places, or practices are identified and remedied at the earliest.
• Monitoring that HSE performance targets are being achieved.
• Coordinating for periodic safety committee meeting and related activities.
• Ensuring that all incidents at site are reported, recorded and thoroughly investigated and the related lessons learnt are communicated.

HSE Compliances

• Monitoring Heath Safety and Environment (HSE) compliance, supporting in defining / suggesting preventive and corrective action.
• Analyzing the outcomes of various HSE initiatives in area of their control.
• Conducting Internal Audit to assess the compliances with all HSE guidelines, continuously interacting with site and various project department for the same.
• Ensuring compliances with legal and other requirements.
• Providing support in development of solutions to minimize or prevent recurrence of incidents.
• Obtaining feedback from Section In-charge and suggesting improvements / corrective actions wherever required.
• Conducting weekly and monthly Heath Safety and Environment (HSE) meetings.
• Reviewing existing plans and systems and incorporating changes whenever required.
• Ensuring timely documentation of compliance to HSE norms.
• Identifying Heath Safety and Environment (HSE) issues in relation to local community.

Specialized Roles & Responsibilities in HSE compliance in Marine & Industrial Projects

• Monitor safety measures / compliances involving mechanical & electrical equipment safety norms during operations of projects involving Jetties, Berth, Harbors, Quay Wall and Material Handling system, Breakwater, LNG Tanks, Industrial Structures and Green Energy Projects.

• Supporting Community HSE awareness programs

• Conducting Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Training for employees, Subcontractors and Piece Rate Workmen for HSE awareness and preparedness
• Developing HSE Training Material and providing inputs for Periodical Training Calendar
• Managing / conducting training sessions for HSE awareness and compliance as per Training Calendar.
• Coordinating Training Programs from External Trainers, as required.

Key Objective of the Job Position

Monitoring the various project site locations and activities to ensure adherence to the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) guidelines laid down in the contract and other various statutory regulations and to conduct training and awareness programs for HSE compliance.

Experience Range

Minimum 5 to 10 Years of experience out of which minimum 3 years of experience in Safety in Marine & Industrial Projects. Experience of at least one such project in India in the capacity of Senior Safety Engineer / Engineer is preferred.

Need to split their time between working in office and working outdoors. Maintaining high-level safety standard at work site. Maintaining high level of social contact. Creating safe work environments by preventing workplace hazards.
