Job summary

Pon Pure Chemical India Private Limited is seeking a Safety officer for the laboratory and warehouse operations. The role focuses on ensuring safety compliance, conducting toolbox talks, issuing PPE, and monitoring violations and hazards.

Responsibilities include inspecting chemical storage, managing waste, and supporting emergency preparedness, with training for staff and visitors as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct toolbox meeting for staffs and employees working in the laboratory.
• Issue Personal protective equipment for staffs and employees working in the laboratory.
• Monitoring and capture safety violations and deviations around the workplace and discuss with concern head of the department.
• Monitoring PPE violations among staff and employees while performing tasks as per PPE matrix.
• Inspect chemical containers for upright storage and secure closing with caps.
• Inspect chemical storage area for spills or leaks.
• Screen chemicals using the chemical screening flowchart.
• Inspect emergency safety equipment for good condition and accessibility.
• Check the sample register and update; clear disposal of unused waste chemicals.
• Update Daily Check Sheets and submit scanned copies to assigned personnel.
• Identify daily deviations and submit with photo proofs.
• Ensure TBM attendance sheets are filled and submitted with scans.
• Report repeated deviations and organize a CFT meeting to avoid repeats.
• Conduct safety induction training for new joiners and visitors.
• Train staff on safety topics to manage emergencies.
• Record and investigate incidents and near-misses to determine root causes.
• Support and safety clearance for new equipment installation or maintenance in the laboratory.

• Routine activity:
• Conduct toolbox meeting for staffs and employees working in the laboratory.
• Issue Personnel protective equipment for staffs and employees working in the laboratory.

• Monitoring the Personnel protective equipment violation among the staffs and employees while carrying out tasks as per PPE matrix.
• Inspect all the chemical container are kept in up-write position and properly closed with inner and outside cap or not.
• Inspect the Chemical storage area whether it’s free from spillage and leakage.
• Screening of chemical by chemical Screening flowchart.
• Inspect the Emergency safety equipment’s are in good condition or not and ready for access in emergency situation.
• Check the sample register whether it is updated or not. Monitor and make clearance for disposal of unused waste chemical substance generated from the laboratory.
• Daily Check Sheets updating and before filing submitting the scanned copies to assigned personnel.
• Identifying the Daily Deviations updating and before filing submitting with photo proofs to assigned personnel.
• Ensuring the TBM attendance sheets are filled properly and before filing submitting the scanned copies to assigned personnel.
• Reporting Repeated Deviation and organizing a CFT meeting to avoid further repeating.
• Non routine activity:
• Conduct safety Induction training for new joiner (staffs and employees) and visitor to maintain and manage the workplace standards safely.
• Training the Staffs and employees on various safety related topics to manage safety emergency circumstances.
• Record and investigate the incident / accident and near-miss to determine the root cause and take Preventive action.
• Support and Safety clearance while any new equipment Installation, maintenance and electrical activity done in the laboratory.
