Job summary

Barsyl in Chennai, India is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong background in rail/metro systems to lead design reviews and documentation. You will assess complex train systems including carbody, bogie, dynamics, pneumatics, brake, and HVAC designs, and interact with Contractors and Clients during workshops.

The ideal candidate has at least 8 years total experience, with 5+ years in rail/metro, and superb written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Review train system designs with minimal guidance
• Review major mechanical systems designs (carbody, bogie, dynamics, pneumatics, brake, HVAC)
• Engage with Contractor and Client during design workshops
• Verify Contractor’s design calculations and test reports
• Assess Contractor’s planning and execution of manufacturing, factory tests, trials

Job description

• Exp in Years Relevant & Other 8 years professional experience with 5 years relevant rail/metro experience
• Able to perform train system design reviews (withminimal guidance)
  
• Technically competent to review the Design of mostmajor mechanical systems such as carbody & bogie design, vehicle dynamics, pneumatics& brake system, air-conditioning, door system, coupler etc.
  
• Capableof engaging effectively with Contractor and Client during design workshops
  
• Able to verify the Contractor’s design calculationsand test reports
  
• Demonstrableability to identify, understand and apply relevant Engineering Standards
  
• Knowledgeof statutory approval process for Indian Metros including RDSO trials
  
• Canobjectively assess and report on the Contractor’s planning and execution ofmanufacturing, factory tests, trials & systems integration matters
  
• Ableto work under own initiative to produce high quality reports and presentations
  

BTechMechanical Engineering or equivalent degree (MTech or MSc preferred)

• Atleast 8 years of total professional experience
