Job summary

Anthroplace Consulting seeks a seasoned Rolling Mill Head to lead the Durgapur steel rolling operations. You will drive production planning, yield optimization, energy control, and safety compliance to meet targets.

The role demands 20–25+ years in rolling mill management, with deep knowledge of horizontal and vertical stands, roll pass design, and TPM/Kaizen practices, plus hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Eng preferred.
• 20+ years experience in steel rolling mills and managing large-scale ops.
• Hands-on knowledge of Horizontal & Vertical stands, Roll Pass Design and Roll Setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily/weekly/monthly production schedules to hit targets.
• Monitor rolling parameters, optimize operations and coordinate with SMS, Maintenance, QA/QC, and Planning teams.
• Drive yield improvement by reducing losses and improving metal recovery.
• Control power consumption and implement energy-saving measures.
• Manage rolls, guides, bearings and consumables; optimize inventory and spares.
• Ensure product quality meets BIS/IS standards and reduce rework.
• Coordinate with Mechanical and Electrical teams for quick breakdown recovery.
• Maximize mill utilization and OEE via Lean, TPM and Kaizen initiatives.
• Prepare production reports and KPI dashboards.

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the Rolling Mill operations by ensuring optimum production, maximizing yield, reducing power and consumable costs, maintaining product quality, ensuring safe working practices, minimizing equipment downtime, and achieving maximum mill utilization while meeting production targets.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with strong experience in managing large-scale steel rolling mill operations with hands‑on exposure to production, process optimization, and team management. Strong understanding of rolling processes, Horizontal & Vertical Rolling Stands, Roll Pass Design, Roll Setting, Stand Alignment, Guide Adjustment, and Process Optimization is required.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Production Management

• Plan and execute daily/weekly/monthly production schedules to achieve targets.
• Monitor rolling parameters, optimize operations, and ensure smooth coordination with SMS, Maintenance, Quality, Dispatch, and Planning teams.

2. Yield Improvement

• Monitor rolling yield, identify losses, and implement corrective actions.
• Optimize billet utilization, reduce crop losses/wastage, and drive continuous improvement for better metal recovery.

3. Power Consumption Control

• Monitor specific power consumption (kWh/MT) and implement energy‑saving initiatives..

4. Store & Consumables Management

• Monitor consumption of rolls, guides, bearings, lubricants, and other consumables.
• Control inventory, reduce unnecessary usage, improve consumable life, and ensure critical spares availability.

5. Quality Management

• Ensure products meet customer specifications and BIS/IS standards.
• Reduce rejection and rework by monitoring dimensions, mechanical properties, surface quality, and coordinating with QA/QC teams.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
• Promote zero‑accident culture through safety practices, toolbox talks, and compliance with statutory regulations.

7. Maintenance Coordination

• Work with Mechanical and Electrical teams for quick breakdown recovery and improved equipment reliability.

8. Mill Utilization & Productivity

• Maximize mill availability, reduce idle time and changeover losses.
• Improve OEE through Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.

9. Reporting & MIS

• Prepare production reports, dashboards, and KPI analysis.
