Job summary

The candidate will direct production schedules, optimize yields, and manage budgets. 15–25+ years in steel manufacturing with at least 5 years in senior leadership are required.

A General Manager (GM) of a Rolling Mill leads the total plant operations, production targets, cost controls, and equipment reliability for hot rolling or TMT/wire rod manufacturing lines This senior techno-commercial role requires managing profit and loss (P&L), reducing cobble rates, and optimizing plant safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Production & Operations: Direct daily, weekly, and monthly rolling schedules to hit output goals. Monitor billet charging, heating, rolling stands, cooling, and final dispatch.

• Quality & Process Control: Improve prime yield, revise roll pass designs, and minimize cobble generation.

• Maintenance & Reliability: Oversee preventive and shutdown maintenance for furnaces, shears, and mill drives to secure high uptime.

• Financial & Commercial Control: Manage plant budgets, reduce cost per ton, control power/energy consumption, and oversee raw material usage.

• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict statutory safety norms, environmental regulations, and labor protocols on the shop floor.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering (MBA in Operations is a strong plus).

• Experience: 15 to 25+ years in steel manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior plant leadership position (GM or DGM).
