Job summary

Bhakti Management Services seeks a skilled Rigger to plan, prepare, and execute safe lifting and rigging operations on construction sites in Gujarat. Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and execute safe lifting and rigging operations per approved plans and site safety procedures.
  • Inspect and verify lifting gear before use to ensure suitability and certification.
  • Calculate load weights and center of gravity; select appropriate rigging methods.
  • Ensure all gear is certified, tagged, and in good condition before operations.
  • Guide crane operators via hand signals and radio communication.
  • Coordinate with crane operators, supervisors, safety officers and other site personnel.
  • Conduct pre-lift inspections and participate in toolbox talks and risk assessments.
  • Establish exclusion zones and monitor weather, ground stability, and environmental factors.
  • Identify damaged equipment and report for repair or replacement.
  • Assist in loading, unloading, positioning, and installation of heavy machinery and components.
  • Record inspection logs and maintain lifting equipment records.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and execute safe lifting and rigging operations in accordance with approved lifting plans and site safety procedures.
  • Inspect, select, and verify the suitability of lifting equipment such as wire ropes, slings, shackles, hooks, chain blocks, spreader beams, and lifting accessories before use.
  • Calculate load weights, determine the center of gravity, and select the appropriate rigging method for safe lifting operations.
  • Ensure all lifting gear is certified, properly tagged, and in good working condition before each operation.
  • Attach and secure loads using the correct rigging techniques to prevent shifting, imbalance, or damage during lifting.
  • Guide Crane Operators using standard hand signals and radio communication throughout lifting operations.
  • Coordinate closely with Crane Operators, Supervisors, Safety Officers, and other site personnel to ensure smooth execution of lifting activities.
  • Conduct pre-lift inspections and participate in toolbox talks and risk assessment meetings before commencing work.
  • Establish and maintain exclusion zones to keep unauthorized personnel away from lifting areas.
  • Monitor weather conditions, ground stability, and environmental factors that may affect lifting operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and statutory lifting standards.
  • Identify damaged or defective lifting equipment and immediately report it for repair or replacement.
  • Assist in loading, unloading, positioning, and installation of heavy machinery, equipment, structural steel, and industrial components.
  • Verify load stability throughout the lifting process and make adjustments whenever required.
  • Follow lifting plans, method statements, and permit-to-work requirements for critical lifting operations.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping in lifting and rigging work areas.
  • Record daily inspection reports and maintain lifting equipment inspection logs.
  • Assist in assembling, dismantling, and relocating cranes and lifting equipment when required.
  • Ensure all rigging activities are carried out without causing damage to equipment, materials, or surrounding structures.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and stop lifting operations whenever unsafe conditions are observed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by following best practices in lifting and rigging operations.
Preferred candidate profile
  • TI/Diploma or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
  • 210 years of experience as a Rigger in construction, oil & gas, infrastructure, manufacturing, heavy engineering, or industrial projects.
  • Good knowledge of lifting tools, rigging accessories, and safe lifting practices.
  • Ability to read lifting plans, load charts, rigging sketches, and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with different types of slings, wire ropes, shackles, hooks, spreader beams, and lifting equipment.
  • Strong understanding of load calculations, center of gravity, and load balancing techniques.
  • Knowledge of standard hand signals and radio communication used during lifting operations.
  • Experience working with mobile cranes, crawler cranes, EOT cranes, tower cranes, and overhead cranes.
  • Awareness of workplace safety standards, PPE requirements, and lifting regulations.Ability to inspect lifting equipment and identify wear, damage, or defects.
  • Physically fit and capable of handling demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, extended hours, and project-based assignments when required.
  • Rigging certification, lifting supervisor certification, or relevant safety certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates with experience in heavy lifting, shutdown projects, industrial plants, steel plants, power plants, or manufacturing industries will be preferred.
  • Immediate joiners or candidates with short notice periods will be given preference.
