Job summary

Role Overview

Shortorbit Defence is looking for an experienced RF Systems Engineer with expertise in RF direction finding, signal analysis and counter-drone technologies. The role requires a hands-on engineering professional capable of independently driving technical assignments, troubleshooting complex RF systems and contributing to system development, integration and validation with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate and evaluate RF-based direction-finding and counter-drone systems.
• Analyse RF signals, assess system performance and investigate relevant signal characteristics.
• Work with RF receivers, antennas, SDR platforms and signal-processing tools for system development and testing.
• Conduct RF measurements, system validation, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Independently manage assigned engineering activities, identify technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Collaborate with embedded systems, FPGA and signal-processing teams to achieve system integration objectives.
• Document test results, technical findings and engineering deliverables.

Required Technical Expertise

• Strong foundation in RF systems, wireless communications, antenna systems or related engineering disciplines.
• Practical knowledge of RF direction finding, signal detection, localisation or related techniques.
• Familiarity with counter-drone systems, RF-based drone detection or electronic surveillance technologies.
• Hands-on experience with SDR platforms, RF receivers, signal-processing tools or relevant RF test equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot RF systems and independently execute engineering tasks.

Experience & Candidate Profile

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant professional engineering experience, preferably in RF systems, direction finding, electronic warfare, radar, wireless communications or counter-drone technologies.
• Demonstrated involvement in relevant system development, prototypes, testing, integration or technical validation.
• Ability to independently handle engineering assignments, make technically sound decisions and deliver results with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.

Candidates with direct experience in RF direction finding, counter-drone systems or related defence technologies will be prioritised.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with antenna arrays, RF receivers, SDR hardware or direction-finding systems.
• Exposure to RF-based drone detection, electronic warfare, radar systems or spectrum analysis.
• Experience integrating RF subsystems with embedded or FPGA-based platforms.
• Demonstrable technical projects, prototypes, research or system-development contributions.
