To manage retail merchandise planning, store-wise allocation, replenishment, and inventory optimization to ensure the right merchandise is available at the right store, at the right time and in the right quantity. The role will work closely with Buying & Merchandising, Retail, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams to maximize sales, sell-through, and inventory productivity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Retail Merchandise Planning
- Develop store and category-level merchandise plans based on historical sales, store potential, seasonality, product lifecycle, and business targets.
- Analyse historical and current sales trends to identify fast-moving, slow-moving and high-potential merchandise.
- Monitor key retail metrics including sales, sell-through, stock cover/WOS, inventory turnover, ageing and stock availability.
- Support seasonal merchandise planning and assortment planning based on store requirements and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory productivity and minimize excess and aged stock.
2. Store-Wise Allocation
- Prepare and execute initial store-wise allocation for new merchandise based on store grades, capacity, historical performance, customer profile, and regional requirements.
- Ensure merchandise is allocated according to store potential and category/product performance.
- Monitor allocation performance and make necessary adjustments based on actual sales.
- Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure timely execution of allocation plans.
- Track stock availability across stores and identify potential stock-out situations.
3. Replenishment & Inventory Management
- Drive regular store replenishment based on sales, stock levels, stock cover, and product availability.
- Identify stores with excess inventory and recommend stock transfers/rebalancing.
- Analyse aged and slow-moving inventory and work with the Retail and Merchandising teams on corrective actions.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels across the store network.
- Track inter-store transfers and monitor their effectiveness.
4. Retail Merchandising
- Work closely with the Buying & Merchandising team to understand product drops, category plans, seasonal launches, and merchandise priorities.
- Ensure merchandise availability is aligned with retail calendars, promotions, campaigns and new launches.
- Monitor product performance at store and category level and provide actionable insights.
- Support decisions around replenishment, markdowns, stock movement and liquidation based on inventory performance.
5. MIS & Data Analysis
- Prepare regular MIS covering:
- Store-wise sales
- Stock availability
- Sell-through
- Stock cover/WOS
- Inventory ageing
- Replenishment
- Stock-outs
- Excess inventory
- Inter-store transfers
- Develop dashboards and reports to support data-driven merchandise decisions.
- Identify trends and provide recommendations to improve sales and inventory productivity.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Retail, Buying & Merchandising, Warehouse, Finance and Planning teams for smooth merchandise flow.
- Follow up on stock dispatches, replenishment requirements, transfers and other inventory-related activities.
- Ensure timely communication of stock issues and recommended corrective actions to relevant stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Advanced/strong MS Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS and data analysis.
- Good understanding of retail merchandise planning and allocation.
- Understanding of fashion/apparel retail and product lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and replenishment.
- Ability to analyse large datasets and convert insights into business actions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple priorities.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline.
- Candidates with a degree/diploma in Fashion Management, Retail Management, Business Management, Commerce or related fields will be preferred.
Experience
15 years of relevant experience in Retail Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, Allocation, Replenishment, or Retail Operations.
Experience in fashion/apparel, ethnic wear, lifestyle or organized retail will be preferred.
