The/Nudge is seeking a Research & Policy Analyst, National Partnerships, EIP to help craft evidence-based policy proposals and support government partnerships. You will gather data, analyze legislation, and contribute to strategy for inclusive livelihoods across rural contexts.

We value strong written/oral communication, data-driven insights, and willingness to travel to rural sites as needed. A master’s degree in a related field is required and SPSS experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public policy, political science, public administration, statistics, international relations, legal studies, sociology or economics.
  • Strong understanding of databases, analytical tools, and research methodologies.
  • Proficient in Excel with data visualization; SPSS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate legislation and policies to determine effects on society and target groups.
  • Collaborate with MoSJE and stakeholders with aligned mandates.
  • Gather and analyze data from surveys and databases for mandates.
  • Write policy proposals outlining potential impacts, costs and benefits.
  • Present reports and proposals to government employees, politicians and public audiences.
  • Prepare quality presentations, reports, and proposals for policy and action.
  • Manage projects with regular reviews and field visits; provide technical support.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for program delivery and representation of TNI interests.

What are we solving for?

We are solving for households in poverty who are also financially and socially vulnerable through a targeted, multi-faceted, and sequenced model called the graduation approach, which has demonstrated that we can durably pull households out of poverty.

At The/Nudge, we are in the process of catalyzing the propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to making the most excluded individuals a contributing member to the economy:

  • Enable govt to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support
  • Continue to implement on its own to iterate the design for impact at scale
  • Enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support
  • Continue to generate data on poverty and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at-scale
  • Build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality.
What are some of the principles/approaches we use to solve problems?

Role and Responsibility
  • Investigate legislation and policies to determine their effects on larger society and intended target groups
  • Conduct research and collaborate with MoSJE and those with aligned mandates
  • Gather and analyze data and statistics from various sources, like surveys and databases, to plug into existing mandates
  • Write policy proposals explaining the potential impacts, costs and benefits of the change
  • Present reports and proposals to government employees, politicians and public audiences
  • Write/analyse reports of research findings and summaries/reviews of current policies to feed into national strategy on livelihoods and social inclusion
  • Prepare quality presentations, reports, and proposals for a range of stakeholders (internal and external) for policy and action
  • Manage projects through regular reviews with implementation/delivery teams, field visits and provision of the required technical support
  • Enable smooth coordination with internal and external stakeholders for program delivery and strong representation of TNI strategic interests
What are we looking for:
  • 8-12yrs experience, with a Master's Degree in Public policy, Political Science, Public Administration, Statistics, International Relations, Legal studies, Sociology, Economics
  • Strong understanding of databases, analytical tools, and research methodologies
  • Strong experience with Excel including the ability to use data visualization software is required; experience with SPSS or other statistical software is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to travel and stay in remote-location rural areas, as and when required.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and remain agile to evolving requirements of the role.
  • Sectoral understanding on rural livelihoods and marginality required
  • Prior experience in working with government/s preferred
