We are looking for a Research Officer - Maize with 5+ years of experience to join our Research & Development function at our Yadaram, Secunderabad location at Limagrain India is dedicated to delivering innovative maize breeding solutions that improve farmer productivity and promote sustainable agriculture. The team focuses on developing superior maize genetics through advanced breeding techniques, field research, and data-driven decision-making. As a Research Officer, you will play a key role in executing breeding activities, supporting hybrid development programs, and ensuring high-quality research operations that contribute to the success of our maize breeding pipeline.

Main Goal

The primary objective of the Research Officer - Maize is to execute and support maize breeding and nursery activities, manage Rabi breeding programs, ensure accurate collection of breeding data, and contribute to the development of high-performing maize lines and hybrids. The role will be instrumental in strengthening the breeding program through efficient field execution, seed management, data accuracy, and adherence to research protocols.

Job Description

As a Research Officer - Maize, you will be responsible for the successful execution of breeding and field research activities that support the development of improved maize products.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute crop breeding activities in coordination with breeders and research teams.
• Manage and execute Rabi breeding nurseries including sowing, crop maintenance, pollination, selection, and harvesting.
• Support hybrid seed production activities while maintaining genetic purity and seed quality.
• Conduct seed packeting, nursery preparation, sowing, pollination, and harvesting operations according to breeding plans.
• Record, compile, and maintain breeding observations, field data, and photographic records.
• Prepare field layouts, score sheets, barcode labels, and breeding records for effective traceability.
• Ensure timely and accurate collection of agronomic and breeding data.
• Coordinate with support teams to ensure timely availability of breeding materials and seeds.
• Perform seed and leaf sampling activities according to breeding protocols.
• Maintain inventory records and ensure data accuracy across research operations.
• Uphold farm housekeeping standards and comply with all EHS, safety, and quality guidelines.
• Support station operations and other research-related activities as required.
