Job summary

Scimplify in Bengaluru, India, seeks a Senior Chemist to lead agro R&D projects, owning synthesis, process development and formulation work from lab to pilot scale.

The candidate will mentor junior chemists, collaborate with analytical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams, and contribute to IP documentation while adhering to GLP/EHS/GMP standards.

Qualifications

• M.Sc in Organic chemistry or equivalent.
• Experience with GLP, EHS, GMP in agrochemical R&D.
• Strong project management and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead synthesis, purification, and characterization of agrochemical intermediates and actives.
• Optimize reactions, processes, and formulations for efficiency, yield, and cost.
• Support scale-up from lab to pilot plant and transfer processes to manufacturing.
• Mentor junior chemists and review experimental plans to ensure rigor.
• Collaborate with analytical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams.
• Contribute to IP documentation and product lifecycle management.
• Ensure strict adherence to GLP, EHS, GMP and lab safety protocols.
• Drive innovation with new synthetic routes or process improvements.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Chemist to lead research and development projects in our Agro R&D team. The candidate will take ownership of synthesis, process development, and formulation projects, mentor junior chemists, and help deliver high-quality agrochemical products from lab to pilot scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead synthesis, purification, and characterization of agrochemical intermediates and actives.
• Optimize reactions, processes, and formulations for efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support scale-up from lab to pilot plant and transfer processes to manufacturing.
• Mentor and guide junior chemists, review experimental plans, and ensure scientific rigor.
• Collaborate with analytical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams.
• Contribute to product lifecycle management and IP documentation (patents, innovations).
• Ensure strict adherence to GLP, EHS, GMP, and laboratory safety protocols.
• Drive innovation by suggesting new synthetic routes, formulations, or process improvements.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Qualification M.Sc - Organic chemistry.
• Hands-on experience in process development, lab-to-pilot scale-up, and formulation chemistry.
• Strong analytical skills with familiarity in NMR, HPLC, GC, LC-MS.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (GLP, EHS, GMP) for agrochemical R&D.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
