Job summary

Humancapital is seeking an experienced R&D Team Leader - Organic Chemistry to guide process research and development within our Agrochemicals division. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on lab work, driving process innovation, optimization, and scale-up from lab to pilot plant in Bengaluru.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with 3-5 years of post-PhD industry experience, or an MSc with 12-15 years of related experience, and demonstrates strong team

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of scientists while remaining actively involved in laboratory work.
• Plan and execute process development, optimization, validation, and scale-up activities.
• Develop cost-effective, robust, and non-infringing chemical processes.
• Support technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
• Identify, analyze, and control process impurities and select appropriate purification techniques.
• Interpret analytical data and ensure scientific accuracy in decision-making.
• Prepare technical documentation, ROS evaluations, and cost assessments.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, IP confidentiality, and project timelines.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced R&D Team Leader - Organic Chemistry to lead process research and development projects within the Agrochemicals business. This role requires strong technical leadership combined with hands-on laboratory involvement, supporting process innovation, optimization, and scale-up from lab to pilot plant.

Location: Bengaluru (Bommasandra)

Experience: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with 3-5 years of post-PhD industry experience OR M.Sc. in Chemistry with 12-15 years of relevant industry experience.

Required Skills

• Prior experience in Agrochemical R&D or Process Development, preferably in the Indian agrochemical industry.
• Strong leadership capability with experience in guiding and developing scientific teams.
• Deep expertise in organic synthesis and process chemistry.
• Hands-on experience in process optimization, validation, and scale-up from lab to pilot scale.
• Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms, impurity profiling, and process safety.
• Proficiency in purification techniques including distillation, crystallization, and chromatography.
• Ability to interpret analytical data using NMR, Mass Spectrometry, HPLC, and GC.
• Experience with literature and patent searches using tools such as SciFinder and Reaxys.
• Strong documentation skills, including technical reports, cost analysis, and ROS evaluations.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
