Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Tax Preparation Specialist to join our team. This is a fully remote, flexible position that allows you to contribute your tax expertise while enjoying the convenience of working from home. You will assist clients in preparing their tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the tax preparation process. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual and business tax returns (federal and state) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with tax regulations.
• Provide timely and clear communication to clients regarding their tax situations and any supporting documentation required.
• Assist clients in understanding complex tax issues, offering expert advice and solutions to minimize tax liabilities.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws, policies, and regulations to ensure all returns comply with current requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of client communications, documents, and filing statuses in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Work collaboratively with the team to manage workloads during peak tax seasons and ensure deadlines are met.
• Handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism, adhering to privacy and confidentiality standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
• CPA certification, Enrolled Agent (EA), or other professional tax-related certifications (highly preferred).
• Proficiency with tax preparation software such as Intuit ProConnect, Drake Tax, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of current tax laws and regulations, both federal and state.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle multiple clients and meet deadlines during peak tax season.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.
• Previous experience working in a tax preparation role or related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation or a related accounting field is required.
• Previous remote work experience is a plus.
• Experience in handling complex tax filings, including small businesses or self-employed individuals, is preferred.

Working Hours

• This is a remote, full-time position with flexible working hours.
• During tax season (typically January through April), the workload may increase, requiring additional hours to meet deadlines.
