Hitachi Energy India Limited, Vadodara, is seeking a seasoned Construction Manager with deep experience in industrial projects. You will lead real estate and construction initiatives, coordinate with BU segments, manage design, tendering and vendor activities, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with rigorous safety standards.

The role requires 20+ years in project/construction management, a Civil/Electrical/Mechanical background, and willingness to travel across India.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in project management/construction management in Industrial or Infrastructural segment.
• Experience handling medium to large industrial projects (1m USD to 25m USD).
• Base location Vadodara with willingness to travel across India region (including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal).
• Open to relocation as per business needs.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Closely collaborating with BU segments to define Real Estate project scope and budgets.
• Site selections and coordinating with consultants for Real Estate solutions.
• Managing design process and appointing architects/engineers.
• Vendor evaluation and tendering, techno-commercial evaluations, and onboarding vendors.
• Plan budgets, cost estimates, cash flows for capex budgeting.
• Regular progress reporting to stakeholders and resolution of issues.
• Directing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Ensure safety standards and project closeout, including as-built drawings and handover.
• Manage property leases and renewal processes.

Your Responsibilities:

• Closely working with BU segments to understand the Real Estate requirements, defining the scope of potential projects, conducting risk assessment, preparing budgets and timelines required to execute these projects in line with requirements of stakeholders.
• Site selections, shortlisting on leased/owned sites and coordinating with BU segments and external consultants for optimal Real Estate solutions.
• Managing the design process for the project, translating the design intent for the proposed factory or office plans into architectural and engineering designs. Evaluation and appointing architects and detailed engineering consultants for carrying out design activities for project.
• Vendor evaluation specific to the requirements of project, coordinating the tendering roll out and bid management process, preparing techno-commercial evaluations for finalization of the bidder. Onboarding the selected vendor in line with the set company process and guidelines.
• Compile and plan budgets, cost estimates, cashflows and other financial estimates for the annual capex budget planning process and also specific to the projects.
• Reporting regularly on progress to the internal BU segments and other key stakeholders, resolving any issues or delays and customer requirements.
• Directing a multi-disciplinary team, overseeing several projects at the same time, and ensure that each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard of completion to the satisfaction of stakeholders. Ensuring that high standard on safety for project execution and taking measures to mitigate the project risks.
• Ensuring a properly executed project closeout, verification of all the contractor’s invoices and claims with respect to completion of the tasks. Ensuring that the 'as built drawings' and other project specific documents are complete in all respects and handed over to the internal customers.
• Managing the property lease’s and other related approval documents for the leased properties for timely renewals or lease closeouts.

Your Background:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree/diploma in Civil or Electrical/Mechanical engineering.
• 20+ years of experience in project management/construction management in Industrial or Infrastructural segment.
• Must have handled medium to large Industrial projects, sized from 1m USD to 25m USD in value, including greenfield projects.
• The base location would be Vadodara but the candidate would be expected to travel to different parts of India region (including India, Srilanka, Bangladesh and Nepal) for project activities. The candidate should be open to relocation in future as per business requirements.
• Experience in Real Estate operational management is desired.
• High level of integrity, transparency and ownership.
• Self-responsible and independent working methods as well as a quick in understanding & learning.
• Team player with high level of reliability, accuracy and care.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
