Payoneer Inc. in Gurgaon, India is seeking an experienced Team Leader to drive backend platforms for a complex payments environment in a hybrid, full-time setting.

You will lead cross-functional teams, shape architecture, and guide production deployments with a focus on reliability and scale, drawing on 10+ years of server-side experience with Java, C#, and .NET, plus strong managerial skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as server-side developer with Java/C#/.NET and REST APIs
• 5+ years in SQL databases (MSSQL/Oracle/MySQL/PostgreSQL)
• 2+ years observability tooling
• 3+ years managerial experience leading customer-facing product development
• Experience with RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka
• Strong OOP and design patterns knowledge
• Familiarity with unit tests, code reviews, test coverage, agile methodologies
• Teamwork and talent development
• Ambition to learn and grow in the field
• B.E./BS in CS or equivalent

What You’ll Do

Team Collaboration and Inter-team Coordination: Be part of a Enterprise group working together; collaborate effectively with your team and cross-functional teams, including Architects, DevOps, SRE, and R&D, to ensure seamless communication and workflow.

Leadership and Team Goals: Assume a leadership role in achieving team objectives, contributing to the design, architecture, development, quality, and production deployment of the team’s systems.

Backend Solutions: Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios, ensuring high-quality output that can be utilized by other teams.

Project Planning: Translate high-level business goals into actionable project plans for the team.

Engineering Practices: Maintain and enhance the teams engineering practices by suggesting and implementing technological improvements and process enhancements.

Process Improvement: Identify and proactively address areas for improvement in team systems, processes, and scalability.

Code Quality: Lead by example in code quality, significantly contributing to code reviews and serving as a focal point for engineering excellence.

Production Monitoring: Oversee production systems, investigate potential issues, and lead efforts to resolve critical challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.

Technical Expertise: Leverage deep, hands-on technical expertise in infrastructure, with a strong understanding of building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure systems.

Leadership Under Pressure: Exhibit calm and effective leadership in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues under pressure.

Who You Are

Experience: 10+ years as a server-side developer using Java, C# and .NET, along with REST APIs.

Database Proficiency: 5+ years of experience with SQL (MSSQL/Oracle/MySQL/PostgreSQL, etc.).

Observability: 2+ years with observability systems (e.g., Dynatrace, Grafana, Coralogix).

Managerial Background: Over 3 years of managerial experience in leading customer facing product development- essential.

Messaging Knowledge: Experience with messaging queues or streams such as RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka.

OOP & Design Patterns: Broad knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and design patterns.

Best Practices: Familiarity with engineering best practices (unit tests, code reviews, test coverage, agile methodologies).

Teamwork: A strong team player with a passion for managing and nurturing talent.

Ambition: Eager to learn and grow in the field.

Education: B.E./BS in Computer Science or an equivalent degree.

Good to have

Familiarity with Kubernetes.

Practical experience with Agile development methodologies.

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

Familiarity with non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).

Experience mentoring new hires and interns, fostering a culture of collaboration and best practices.
