Job description

The Radiation Oncologist will be responsible for planning, prescribing, and supervising radiation therapy for patients with cancer using evidence-based oncology protocols. This involves patient evaluation, cancer staging, treatment planning, radiotherapy dose prescription, follow-up care, side‑effect management, and multidisciplinary coordination. The candidate should have strong expertise in radiation oncology, compassionate patient communication, and the ability to deliver safe, precise, and patient‑centered cancer treatment.

• Evaluate cancer patients and determine suitability for radiation therapy based on diagnosis, staging, and clinical condition.
• Develop personalized radiation treatment plans in coordination with the oncology care team.
• Prescribe radiation dose, fractionation schedule, treatment volume, and technique as per clinical guidelines.
• Work with medical physicists and radiation therapists for simulation, contouring, planning, and treatment execution.
• Review CT simulation, imaging reports, pathology reports, staging investigations, and treatment history.
• Perform target volume delineation and organ-at-risk contouring for accurate radiotherapy planning.
• Supervise external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, or other advanced radiation techniques.
• Monitor patients during radiation therapy and manage acute treatment-related side effects.
• Provide follow-up care after radiation treatment to assess response, recovery, and late toxicities.
• Coordinate with medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, and palliative care teams.
• Participate in tumor board meetings and multidisciplinary cancer treatment planning.
• Explain treatment benefits, risks, expected outcomes, and care instructions to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate treatment records, consent forms, progress notes, and follow-up documentation.
• Ensure radiation safety, quality assurance, infection control, and hospital protocol compliance.
• Support oncology department development, patient safety initiatives, audits, and continuous medical education.
