Job description

The Medical Oncologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with cancer through evidence-based medical oncology care. This involves chemotherapy planning, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care, palliative care coordination, and multidisciplinary cancer treatment planning. The candidate should have strong clinical expertise in oncology, compassionate patient communication, and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary hospital team to deliver safe, ethical, and patient-centered cancer care.

• Diagnose and manage patients with different types and stages of cancer.
• Develop personalized treatment plans based on clinical evaluation, investigations, staging, and patient condition.
• Prescribe, supervise, and adjust chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive treatment protocols.
• Monitor patient response to oncology treatment and adjust therapy plans when clinically required.
• Manage treatment‑related side effects, complications, emergencies, and supportive care needs.
• Coordinate with surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, and palliative care teams.
• Conduct outpatient consultations, inpatient rounds, follow‑up visits, and emergency oncology assessments.
• Explain diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, risks, and care plans to patients and families with empathy.
• Review laboratory reports, imaging studies, biopsy reports, molecular tests, and staging investigations.
• Ensure safe chemotherapy administration through proper protocol selection, dose calculation, and monitoring.
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment summaries, consent forms, discharge notes, and follow‑up plans.
• Participate in tumor board discussions and multidisciplinary cancer care planning.
• Support palliative and end‑of‑life care planning for advanced cancer patients.
• Follow hospital protocols, ethical standards, infection control practices, and clinical quality guidelines.
• Contribute to oncology department development, patient safety initiatives, and continuous medical education.
