Job summary

Nokia is seeking a Senior Software Developer to help build Nokia Cloud Operations Manager (NCOM) and its next-generation infrastructure layer. You will manage end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle, including hardware, OS, and Kubernetes, and drive automation, reliability, and scale for telecom operators worldwide.

You’ll contribute to declarative GitOps, container orchestration, service mesh (Istio), and AI-enabled CI/CD workflows, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile setting to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Telecom, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong software development in Go and Python.
• Expertise in OpenShift, Docker, Helm and Kubernetes, incl. troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitOps preferred), Linux administration, networking, and security.
• Experience designing and running cloud-native distributed systems at scale, with service-mesh knowledge (Istio).

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement enterprise-grade GitOps strategies, including declarative state models and multi-cluster reconciliation loops.
• Design and automate OpenShift lifecycle management, including installation, upgrades, and RH ACM.
• Develop and troubleshoot Kubernetes-based applications, leveraging OpenShift, Docker, and Istio.
• Build and optimize distributed systems and microservices at scale for high performance and reliability.
• Automate container lifecycle frameworks: base image governance, dynamic pipelines, admission control, runtime orchestration, and ephemeral environments.
• Integrate AI-driven tools into CI/CD pipelines to automate workflows (code generation, manifest validation, vulnerability patching, PR reviews).
• Debug and resolve issues in Kubernetes clusters and Go-based services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence technical decisions and drive cloud-native innovations.

Join Nokia’s engineering team and contribute to building and evolving the next generation of Nokia Cloud Operations Manager (NCOM), focusing on Infrastructure Management.

NCOM Evo is Nokia’s next-generation, cloud-native operations layer that enables telecom software to run and evolve at scale. It simplifies complex network operations—including packages, clusters, sites, and network functions—through a unified platform that supports design, deployment, upgrades, rollbacks, and observability. The platform combines an Operations Portal with Kubernetes controllers, configuration-as-data, and GitOps-based automation.

As part of the NCOM Infrastructure Management team, you will contribute to managing the end-to-end lifecycle of infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, and Kubernetes. You will work on infrastructure configuration, networking, and closed-loop automation, helping streamline operations and improve reliability.

Working in an Agile engineering environment, you will have the opportunity to write clean, maintainable code, develop new features, and automate infrastructure and cluster deployments that support major telecom operators worldwide.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

As a Senior Software Developer, you will...

• Design and automate Openshift Container Platform (OCP) lifecycle management, including installation, upgrades, and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (RH ACM).
• Develop and troubleshoot Kubernetes-based applications, leveraging expertise in Openshift, Docker, and service mesh layers like Istio.
• Build and optimize distributed systems and microservices at scale, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Automate container lifecycle management frameworks, covering secure base image governance, dynamic build pipelines, admission control, runtime orchestration, and ephemerо environment provisioning.
• Integrate AI-driven tools into CI/CD pipelines to automate workflows, including code generation, manifest validation, vulnerability patching, and pull request reviews.
• Debug and resolve issues in Kubernetes clusters, containerized applications, and Go-based services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence technical decisions and drive innovation in cloud-native distributed systems.

Key Skills And Experience

If you have:

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Telecom, or equivalent, with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong software development expertise in Go and Python.
• Proven expertise in Openshift, Docker, helm and Kubernetes, including troubleshooting, administration, and lifecycle management.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (ideally GitOps), Linux administration, networking, and security.
• Experience designing and running cloud-native distributed systems at scale, with hands-on expertise in service mesh architectures (e.g., Istio).

It Would Be Nice If You Also Had

• Cloud certifications in Openshift and at least one public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with hardware management, including Redfish, UEFI, BIOS/eSW upgrades, GPUs, and Linux administration.
• Hands-on experience with workflow design and development, including CI/CD pipelines and AI-based development workflows.
