Job summary

Nokia in Bengaluru, India seeks a Principal System Architect to shape the architectural direction of Nokia Cloud Operations Manager (NCOM). Lead design and implementation of cloud-native infrastructure management solutions for telecom operators.

You will own end-to-end feature delivery, design and automate OpenShift lifecycle, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, and GitOps tools, contribute through HLDs, Go and Python development, and guide cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software development experience with a focus on cloud-native technologies.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecom, or equivalent.
• Deep expertise in software design, architectural patterns, and high-level designs.
• Proficiency in Go and Python for scalable applications.
• Hands-on experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, and GitOps tools.

Join as a Principal System Architect in Nokia’s engineering team and shape the architectural direction of the next generation of Nokia Cloud Operations Manager (NCOM), driving the analysis, design, and implementation of innovative solutions within the Infrastructure Management domain.

NCOM Evo is Nokia’s next-generation, cloud-native operations layer that enables telecom software to run and evolve at scale. It simplifies complex network delivery—including packages, clusters, sites, and network functions—through a unified Operations Portal that enables operators to design, deploy, upgrade, roll back, and monitor their networks. The platform is powered by Kubernetes controllers, configuration-as-data, and GitOps-based automation.

As part of the NCOM Infrastructure Management team, you will help shape solutions that manage the full lifecycle of infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, and Kubernetes, while advancing configuration management, networking, and closed-loop automation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive architectural evolution and technical excellence, translating complex requirements into scalable, resilient, and production-ready solutions. You will provide architectural leadership, guide key technical decisions, and collaborate across engineering teams to deliver highly automated infrastructure management capabilities for telecom operators worldwide.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

• Own end-to-end feature delivery, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
• Architect and automate Openshift Container Platform (OCP) lifecycle management, including installation, upgrades, and maintenance, leveraging Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (RH ACM).
• Design and implement cloud-native distributed systems at scale, with expertise in Containers, Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
• Draft and deliver comprehensive architectural studies and high-level designs (HLDs) to guide development teams toward efficient implementation and adherence to best engineering practices.
• Develop scalable applications using Go (Golang) and Python, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Integrate GitOps tools like FluxCD and ArgoCD for managing infrastructure and application deployments.
• Debug and resolve complex issues in Kubernetes clusters, containerised applications, and Go-based services, ensuring robust system performance.
• Manage OCI-compliant container registries (e.g., Harbour, Quay) for secure container image governance and compliance.
• Lead efforts to design and automate workflows for CI/CD pipelines, including AI-driven development workflows for code generation, manifest validation, and vulnerability patching.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence technical decisions, drive innovation, and coach developers on best practices for cloud-native architectures.

Key Skills And Experience

If You Have

• 15+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on cloud-native technologies.
• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Telecom, or an equivalent.
• Deep expertise in software design, architectural patterns, and drafting HLDs to guide development teams.
• Proficiency in Go (Golang) and Python for developing scalable and efficient applications.
• Hands‑on experience with Containers, Docker, helm, Kubernetes, Ansible, and GitOps tools like FluxCD and ArgoCD.

It Would Be Nice If You Also Had

• Cloud certifications in Openshift and at least one public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with hardware management, including Redfish, UEFI, BIOS/eSW upgrades, GPUs, and Linux administration.
• Practice with AI-based development workflows and workflow design for CI/CD pipelines.
