Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) in Chennai is seeking engineers to develop, deliver, and maintain base models for power electronics-based applications, focusing on PSCAD, PSSE, and EMTP-RV simulations. You will work with multiple engineering groups to ensure model quality and alignment with grid codes.

Required is a strong background in power systems modelling and experience with EMTDC/PSCAD, PSS/E, EMTP-RV, and Dig Silent PowerFactory.

• Experience in simulation tools EMTDC, PSCAD, PSS/E, EMTP-RV and Dig Silent Power Factory.

Responsibilities

• Develop base models and component development in PSCAD, PSSED SILENT, Power Factory and EMTP-RV for power electronics-based applications.
• Understand customer requirements and develop models for customers; maintain scalable models.
• Write technical reports for base models to facilitate ease of use.
• Model troubleshooting and support customers in adapting models to networks.

How youll make an impact

• Developing Base models andcomponentdevelopment in PSCAD, PSSEDig SILENT, Power Factoryand EMTP-RV for Power electronics-based applications.
• Understand the customer requirements and developing models for customers in the above-mentioned software. Responsible fordeveloping scalablemodels andmaintainingthem in line with control platform changes.
• Extensivecontact withengineering groups(PowerQuality, Powerconversionand LPSTATCOM),Application engineering,and Product management.Writingtechnical reports for the Base models tofacilitatethe ease of using the models.
• Model troubleshooting, fault tracingissuesand supporting customers in adapting the models to the customer-specific networks.Simulation model benchmarking in different simulation softwares
• Understanding grid codes and adapting the modelsin accordance withthe requirements.
• Diligently follow the process and guidelines around modeldeliverythereby ensuring the quality and on time delivery of the simulation model.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Required ME Power Systems / ME Power Electronics with 0-3+ years of experience inmodellingIBRsforpower quality and power conversion applications.
• You should have experience in simulation tools such as EMTDC / PSCAD, PSS/E,EMPTV-RV andDig SilentPower factory.Required Goodknowledge of FORTRAN, Python,MATLABand C.
• Understanding application of Power Electronics in HV/EHV system. Experience in performing power system studies like load flow, short circuit, transient stabilityand switching transients for utility / industrial.systems.
• Familiar with IEEE/CIGREguidelines for simulation model development.Good knowledge of Power Systems equipment and their purpose.
• Curiosity to explore and continuously learn changing power systemlandscape.
• Zeal to explore the potential of different simulationsoftware.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
