Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Development Centre in Chennai invites a ME Power Systems/Power Electronics engineer with 0-3+ years to model IBRs for power quality and power conversion. You will use EMTDC/PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, and related tools to simulate grid applications.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop base models and components for power electronics-based applications.
• Create scalable models and maintain them with changing control platforms.
• Interact with PowerQuality, PowerConversion, and LPSTATCOM teams and produce technical reports.
• Troubleshoot models, support customers, and benchmark simulations across tools.
• Ensure models comply with grid codes and internal guidelines.

How you’ll make an impact

• Developing Base models and component development in PSCAD, PSSEDig SILENT, Power Factoryand EMTP-RV for Power electronics-based applications.

• Understand the customer requirements and developing models for customers in the above-mentioned software. Responsible for developing scalable models and maintaining them in line with control platform changes.

• Extensive contact with engineering groups (PowerQuality, Powerconversionand LPSTATCOM), Application engineering, and Product management. Writing technical reports for the Base models to facilitate the ease of using the models.

• Model troubleshooting, fault tracing issues and supporting customers in adapting the models to the customer-specific networks. Simulation model benchmarking in different simulation software’s

• Understanding grid codes and adapting the models in accordance with the requirements.

• Diligently follow the process and guidelines around model delivery thereby ensuring the quality and on time delivery of the simulation model.

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Required ME Power Systems / ME Power Electronics with 0-3+ years of experience in modelling IBR’s for power quality and power conversion applications.

• You should have experience in simulation tools such as EMTDC / PSCAD, PSS/E, EMPTV-RV and Dig Silent Power factory. Required Good knowledge of FORTRAN, Python, MATLAB and C.

• Understanding application of Power Electronics in HV/EHV system. Experience in performing power system studies like load flow, short circuit, transient stability and switching transients for utility / industrial systems.

• Familiar with IEEE/CIGRE guidelines for simulation model development. Good knowledge of Power Systems equipment and their purpose.

• Curiosity to explore and continuously learn changing power system landscape.

• Zeal to explore the potential of different simulation software.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
