Job summary

Freudenberg Group in India is seeking a Senior R&D Chemist with a strong background in lubricant chemistry to lead and develop specialty lubricants. You will train junior developers, drive segment-specific projects, and collaborate with global teams to meet customer needs.

The role requires a postgraduate in chemistry with 10+ years experience, and a proactive approach to documentation, lab reports, and safety practices in the R&D lab.

Job description

Responsibilities

• To become expert in specialties lubricants
• To train junior product developer technically
• To drive chosen segment technically – to become the expert for the addressed segments
• To anticipate and understand customer needs & expectations
• To drive product development projects for the addressed segments
• To perform day to day experiments, reporting and documentation
• To manage R&D lab records and prepare lab reports
• To present the project results to the leadership team
• To co-ordinate with production team to scale up R&D batches
• To co-ordinate with Quality Assurance team to finalize the product specification
• To provide necessary support to Marketing Applications and Sales team to enhance the sale of new products
• To perform tests relative to the product development projects
• To overview the benchmarking tests for the dedicated segments
• To maintain and improve the established laboratory safety practices
• To maintain R&D test equipment and its assets
• To support to Sales and Marketing to create value argumentation on existing and new products
• Ensure compliance to Freudenberg HSE policies, objectives, standards, directives & guidelines
• To co-ordinate with all concerned on effective handling of customer complaints
• Support to Production/Process Engineering team to improve first time yield
• To conduct relevant literature search and documentation of the same for future use
• To explore local raw material sources and evaluate potentially suitable raw material in existing product formulations to effect cost reduction and import substitute
• To drive technically and coordinate with Product Portfolio Manager, Sales, Marketing Application, Production, Quality Control, Purchase and global teams in Germany

Qualifications

Postgraduate in chemistry with strong R&D background in lubricant chemistry (PhD is a plus) having 10+ years experience.

Functional Responsibilities/Network Teamwork mindset is mandatory Create a positive and developing climate, with respect to HSE Coordinate with Product Portfolio Manager, Sales, Marketing Application, Production, Quality Control, Purchase and global teams in Germany Manage and develop the personnel and working processes within the department. Ensure that site meets HSE Standards and Directives. Ensure completion of all relevant statutory documentation related to HSE in line with local laws.
