Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer in Vadodara to contribute to the design and testing of high‑voltage switchgear products. You will develop conceptual designs meeting functional requirements and document analyses and experiments accordingly.

The role requires a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 5–6 years total experience, including 3–4 years in product design, and hands‑on use of ProE, ANSYS and ADAMS.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Engineering (Mechanical) with 5–6 years total experience, 3–4 years in product design.
• Hands-on with ProE and ANSYS/ADAMS for structural analysis.
• Experience with circuit breakers or mechanical devices is a plus.
• Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.
• Familiarity with IEC standards and testing requirements.
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
• Safety, integrity, ownership, collaboration.”

Responsibilities

• Fulfill HV Switchgear product design and testing requirements.
• Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis of operating mechanisms using ADAMS.
• Conduct stress analysis using ANSYS.
• Embed PLM usage and change management within R&D processes.
• Design optimization using DFA, FMEA, CTQs, DFM and simulations.
• Serve as design solutions provider to other functions and promote cross‑functional cooperation.
• Aim for harmonization of platforms and reduction of complexity costs.

Job description

The candidate will assume an experienced R&D engineer role as part of R&D Project Team focusing on delivering products through flawless design and testing in the field of high voltage circuit breakers. The candidate shall be able to demonstrate technical skills, with a strong engineering fundamentals & background on product life cycle management. As part of development team, candidate should demonstrate expertise in engineering, developing conceptual design which meets functional requirements following quality documentation of all design analysis and experimentation.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Responsible for fulfilling HV Switchgear Product functional and market requirements through design and testing keeping innovation at the core.
• Kinematic/ Dynamic analysis of operating mechanisms with deep understanding of High Voltage circuit breaker product and hands on experience of software tools like ADAMS.
• Apply knowledge in the field of engineering mechanics and Stress Analysis using software like ANSYS
• Embed usage of standardized tools (e.g. PLM), change management, global processes/ instructions within R&D culture & practices.
• Design optimization and use of quality methods (DFA, FMEA, CTQs, DFM, simulation, usage of latest gate checklist.
• Ensures close cooperations with all other functions and acts as design solution provider to all other functions.
• Strives for product / platform harmonization and complexity cost reduction.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

• Master’s in engineering (Mechanical) with 5-6 Yrs of total experience, with dedicated 3-4 years of experience on product design and development
• Solid technical background, with hands on experience in ProE (Prototypes concept development) along with ANSYS, ADAMS simulation softwares mainly structural analysis.
• Experience on circuit breakers and/or mechanical devices will be an added advantage.
• Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.
• Knowledge of international standards like IEC and testing requirements will be added advantage.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
• Shall have strong sense of safety & integrity; ownership & responsibility; collaboration & trust.
