  • Check machine setups, first-off parts and process sequences on CNC turning, milling and other operations, and flag anything in the tooling, fixtures or process that could cause trouble.
  • Suggest suitable inspection stages and gauges to make sure critical features are checked during production.
Supplier Quality and Non-Conformance

  • Review supplier documentation: material test certificates, heat-treatment and special-process records, inspection reports and certificates of conformance.
  • Raise NCRs for in-house and Supplier parts and share relevant information with the respective teams.
  • Ensure inspection records are accurate and ready for internal and external audits.
AS9100D readiness

  • 2-4 (if Diploma) or 1-3 (if B.E/B.Tech) years of mechanical inspection experience in aerospace, defence, space or high-precision manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of CNC turning, milling, grinding, welding, heat treatment and surface treatment, and how each of these can affect part quality.
  • Able to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T requirements in line with ASME Y14.5. Should also be able to prepare an inspection plan from a drawing.
  • Hand-on experience with Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Thread and Pin Gauge & Surface Roughness testers. Exposure to CMM inspection.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100D requirements and the ability to learn and follow new quality processes as they are introduced.
  • Able to hold or reject parts that do not meet requirements and discuss quality issues clearly with suppliers and internal teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
  • Experience with First Article Inspection to AS9102.
  • CMM programming experience (for example PC-DMIS, Calypso or similar).
  • NDT Level II certification in PT, MT or UT (ASNT or ISO 9712).
  • Exposure to inspection of rocket engine, propulsion, cryogenic or high-pressure fluid components, or work with ISRO, HAL, DRDO or their vendors.
  • Knowledge of oxygen-service cleanliness standards and cleanroom practices.
