Job summary

Optum in India is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer I to lead end-to-end test automation and functional testing across UI and API platforms. You will work within an onshore/offshore delivery model to drive test automation framework design and enhancements using Selenium WebDriver, Rest Assured, TestNG, and Cucumber in a Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) environment with robust reporting mechanisms.

Additionally, you will evaluate and integrate AI-assisted automation tools to streamline testing

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Quality Engineer I to join our technology team. In this role, you will lead end-to-end test automation and functional testing across UI and API platforms to ensure high standards of software quality and deliverability. Working within an onshore/offshore team delivery model, you will drive test automation framework design and enhancements using Selenium WebDriver, Rest Assured, TestNG, and Cucumber in a Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) environment with robust reporting mechanisms. Additionally, you will evaluate and integrate AI-assisted automation tools and solutions to streamline testing workflows, optimize test coverage, and drive continuous quality improvement while operating independently with minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain robust UI test automation suites using Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, and Core Java with reporting mechanisms
• Develop and enhance API automation frameworks using Rest Assured following a Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) approach with Cucumber and Gherkin syntax
• Evaluate, design, and integrate AI-assisted testing tools and automations to streamline testing workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and drive continuous quality improvement
• Perform end-to-end functional testing, managing test coverage and defect tracking across all phases of the Quality Assurance Life Cycle
• Track, document, and manage defects using agile project management tools such as Jira or Rally
• Implement test case maintainability best practices to ensure scalable, reusable, and efficient automated test scripts
• Collaborate closely across onshore and offshore team members, proactively analyzing requirements and asking logical, clarifying questions
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex testing or technical issues independently with minimal support

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or similar field
• 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance encompassing both functional testing and test automation
• 8+ years of hands-on experience developing UI automation frameworks using Core Java, Selenium WebDriver, and TestNG with reporting mechanisms
• 8+ years of experience in API automation framework development using Rest Assured
• 8+ years of experience implementing BDD methodologies using Cucumber, TestNG/JUnit, and Gherkin syntax with reporting mechanisms
• Demonstrated experience building, customizing, or integrating automated solutions to streamline testing workflows
• Demonstrated experience managing defect life cycles and test cases using tools such as Jira or Rally
• Proven experience collaborating in an onshore/offshore team delivery model and troubleshooting technical issues independently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience building, customizing, or integrating AI-driven tools or services into automation testing workflows
• Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated test execution using GitHub Actions or GitLab
• Solid Core Java knowledge and experience
• Knowledge of or experience with the Spring Framework
